seeing him so far, ive seen enough to know that somethings wrong with him, its not just him being out of shape, either its something personal like his grandmas death (its possible he cant get over it) or it has something to do with the team (coach), so hes being unhappy on offense hes not looking to score and he does nothing except setting screens and passing the ball in a sloppy way (hes not as good as jokic, so he should stop trying to be like him)... hes the third best player on this team and needs to play like it, blazers need his scoring and its unacceptable that hes playing like a role player defensively i wouldnt put to much blame on him, blazers are trying to play him like rockets did with capela, so hes not spending much time around the rim as he used to, so it will take time for him to get used to a new defensive scheme and gel with his teammates, but i did see some great defensive moments during preseason he said he was at 70% and i can uderstand that does not allow him to play as good as he can, but thats not the reason to be passive and it pisses me off heres hope he puts it together soon... and as always, fuck terry stotts!
I think everyone except CJ is shaking off the cobwebs right now. Or maybe it's a Baltic thing - check out Doncic's shooting stats right now.
Like most losses I don't think his grandmother's death broke him so while I don't think anyone gets over losing someone that is as important as his grandmother seems to be to him, that doesn't mean it won't continuously have less and less of an effect on him day to day and moment to moment. I think we will see him get back to his old self on the court soon and then be better than we've ever seen him. He is out of shape and he is being less aggressive but both of those things will get better and I hope and think we will find him in the best shape of his career and his most confident by mid season and that should result in better performance than ever. So, I'm not worried about him having a negative overall impact on this season, just like I'm not worried about Dame's play right now. It's early and they'll both get out of whatever funk they are in and get all the way into the season and game both mentally and physically.
Nurk play with a lot of emotion, he was feeding off energy from fans when there was fans. I think he is adjusting to playing without fans and have to generate the energy from within. I think Dame is the same way but he is definitely more skilled so that helped. Playing in an empty arena will take some adjustment especially they have been so conditioned to play in front of fans for so many year from AAU to college to pro.
I agree that the empty arenas are a factor for all these weird scores. If you don't bring your own energy you are often getting blown out.
He was excited to be back on the court and was playing out of adrenaline. It was only 10 game or so and there were "fans" on the screen and no traveling. He was constantly around teammates.
we have the depth to bench him and send a message, give him the Vonleh treatment if he's not interested, Raptors did the same with Siakam
Vonleh got to play some and that's not happening with except garbage time. But that's Stotts how he does things might a reason will never win a championship. I believe there minutes for Giles to play especially unil Nurk gets in shape because this not the same Nurk we seen in the past.
