Ok. When was the last time we had 3 game winning streak BC of good team play and good coaching and not BC of individual hero ball performances?
every win is a collective....I'm a fan of Stotts and the roster...win and lose as a team. we're not a team of selfish players...Stotts gives his whole bench a shot at earning minutes every season...something Nate never did. I'm cheering for Stotts and Melo and CJ and the whole franchise...and I think we can win a title...guys love playing here..there's a reason...Stotts has had 14 game winning streaks
WHO CARES HOW WE GO ON A 3 GAME WINNING STREAK? I'LL TAKE WINNING STREAKS ALL DAY EVERYDAY REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY HAPPEN!
Can you imagine we somehow win a title in the next few years and we'll have people saying we didn't win in the right way and it's not sustainable?!?
In the NBA a win is a win. By one or 20, home or road, vs. bad or good teams. Every night someone loses a game they “shouldn’t”. In high school or maybe college you can say things like “we have to beat this team they suck”. Every game is worth a win or loss. Of course you feel some games are more winnable than others. But never ever complain about a win regardless of how ugly it is
We got four players that can go for 40 any given night. And Stotts can't bring synergy that could take us to the finals, BC with ball movement we could make other teams cry. It's like you don't want a car, cos your horse can take you to your grandma and you fine. As for HCP I understand that you know the guy and you loyal. It's great, but your points are not valid in this case.
I can imagine we win a tittle with this players if someone can put scheme on them to work together. As for now we can only imagine we win tittle "somehow" and it says it all.
The Blazers need to fire Terry "I make no adjustments and get outcoached come playoff time" Stotts before the playoffs starts that's for sure
I'm not disagreeing with you but you didn't put a period at the end of your post so I'll finish it for you in the unfortunate accuracy of our reality. ... not going to happen because Olshey is GM and neither guy is very keen on change.
Gary Trent's breakout late last year reminded me of Zach Randolph's first season, where he finally got minutes in the playoffs and proved to everyone he belonged. In Year 2, it was plain as day to everyone that Zbo was getting huge minutes. Portland needed to enter this season with a plan to make Trent the featured third scorer on the team, averaging 35mpg. Maybe he doesn't start because the fit isn't right, but for damn sure he's getting all the minutes he can handle. He's young, talented, can shoot and play defense, and he's absolutely part of the future (or a fantastic trading piece if he's not). Instead in the second game of the year he gets 5 minutes of playing time! That shit is insane! I've seen nothing to indicate that Stotts has seen this light. On the contrary, he's wasting 25mpg every night on Carmello, a guy who provides basically the same offense and absolutely no defense and has no future in the NBA beyond the end of the bench. On the plus side, in the last 3 games (all wins) Trent is averaging 29mpg. Not enough, but better. I like the trend, but I feel like Stotts is being dragged into reality rather than taking advantage of it.
Just try to imagine what minutes would Melo get if Pop would be coach here. I said this 5 years ago, Stotts rotations and game plan looks like he's on PlayStation tournament.
The fit is definitely right. Gary next to Dame or CJ makes far more sense when considering both sides of the court. Unfortunately for Gary, the team has opted to give Ant more minutes. Also with the tear that CJ is on and Dame being Dame, this team is again all about shootouts and not playing balanced basketball. It's like some D'Atoni shit but without the player or ball movement. Very little defense, almost all offense and hope we out shoot our opponent. It's a recipe for a streaky regular season that definitely leads to the playoffs and then very little success in the playoffs. With that said, maybe we do get better at D as a team and then we would have a very high powered offense with a middle of the road D. That would mean some consistency and more wins in the regular season and a further playoff run. Here's to hoping. Go Blazers!
Like right now and when they were in the bubble? And when they were playing in the playoffs first round against OKC? And the multiple winning streaks they had that year before Nurk went down? And .... You get the idea right?
