You can tell when the shot is going to go in, and when it is going to miss. On his makes, he has time to gently follow through in his motion and he feathers the shot up. It's beautiful and elegant. When he pulls up and shoots the ball like, say, CJ, it's rarely a make.
I think so too, he passes up open ones to travel, and then later takes more contested ones that he bricks
81% of the three point attempts he's taken, there was not a defender within 4ft of him (what the NBA considers "open"). He's shooting 30% from 3. Are teams giving him that or is the Blazers offense scheming him open? Probably a mix of both. The outcome of shooting 30% when 81% of your threes are open is unacceptable.
It's not like he is washed. He is still solid on other things, so his confidence must be really fucked up. Incredible drop off though. Ridiculously bad on offensive end.
I think he’d benefit from playing in the second unit. Less pressure to find his groove again. The problem is we don’t have a starting caliber PF to step in
Really though this is why it’s been so strange. We’ve never really had someone come here and regress this bad in a considered strength of their game
Still had many big plays on D against the Knicks. Even bricking every shots he's still valuable, and I think he'll get his groove back
Our two new starting forwards both shoot around 27% from three. Not a recipe for success in today's NBA. Carmelo and Trent are over 40%. Not to beat a dead horse, but Trent should be a starter. CJ traded for an upgrade at the F spot.
I do think trent should be starting at the three if not the two. He can dribble drive and post up where Jones struggles. Trent is as good on ball defender than jones too. Jones would flourish in the second unit....
