    My 92 year-old mother-in-law was able to snare an appointment at the Convention Center for tomorrow. I couldn’t believe her luck given how screwed up the system is. I think she should head to Vegas to play the slots after she’s immune.

    Got my appointment notification! I actually have to postpone a couple of weeks since I just got a Shingrix vaccine this week but I'm scheduled. Don't usually get excited about a needle stuck into me.

    It was pure dumb luck except that I saw that they were going to start taking appointments at 9:00 am instead of noon as had been published in the Oregonian the day before. My mother-in-law had no clue how lucky she was. When she called to tell us she said that her appointment was a little late in the day and maybe she should call back to reschedule. Ha!

    1. Go to the Oregon Convention Website. Use the link there for signing up for vaccine.

    2. Sign up for a My Health account, do that for your mom as soon as you can. If you wait to do it once you see that there are appointments available, by the time you sign up the appointments will be gone.

    3. After you have a My Health account for your mom just keep checking the OCC site throughout the day.

    4. Very strong chance that there will be cancellations Friday through Monday due to weather. If you can get to her and then get to the OCC in bad weather start refreshing the appointment website a ton on those days.

    That doesn't work. When you go to the Convention website you are directed to the covidvaccine.oregon.gov site to schedule an appointment. However, when I go there there is nothing available. Frustrating!

    Well I set up an account anyway. The site says the closest place to get a vaccine is The Dalles. Not sure what that's about?

    I know that. And what I'm saying does work. Sign your mom up for a MyHealth account. If the weather is bad later this week there will be cancelations and you'll be able to get one. Otherwise check on next Monday when the next week's appointments are released. They go quick, that's why I'm saying to sign up for the MyHealth account in advance. If you wait to sign up for it after you see appointments available those appointment times will be gone by the time you signup.

    I just went through this with my dad and Mrs SPD went through it with her mom. Mrs SPD got her mom a cancelation visit yesterday and I got my dad an appointment for Friday.
