    RIP champ

His son was also a heavy weight champion, I think the only father and son to both win the big one.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Spinks, despite having the remarkable line on his resume of "Defeated Muhammad Ali to become undisputed heavy weight champion of the world," is a pretty sad story. His career was unfulfilled potential and his life was, in many ways, wasted too.

I'm glad he's at peace now. At least he made his mark in the world.

Spinks beat a very old Ali, who returned for the payday. By then Ali was more colorful personality than boxer, no longer widely hated by the media, as during the 60s and early 70s.

Can someone tell me when it's no longer too soon to post Richard Pryor's bit on Leon Spinks?
