Step, you are spot on. Chuck doesn't get it. This season is not about winning games, who gives a shit. This season given the circumstance of COVID, is about developing talent. This is like a long training camp. LAF must play with Z or Panarin. He is playing with Howden. I understand that Gorton and JD did not get a center, and they could have gotten at least Brian Boyle who is not exactly an amazing center, but he wins draws, veteran, uses body well and would have at least created some space for LAF to generate something on his own. They could have gotten Stall type center, a vet on a short term contract. I know Koivu retired mid-season but they didn't even try to get him. But lack of centers should have made Quinn's job somewhat easier in decision making because of limited options. LAF with Z or move Panarin to the right and play with Strome and move Kakko up with Z and Krieder. Doesn't matter how, LAF and Kakko have to play to develop. Buch and Kreider are tutors at this point, and if they need to move down, they do to help #1 and #2. This coach doesn't get it.

Quinn lives in a pretend world as if we are competing for something and admitingly said that kids don't get too many chances at mistakes and vets do. Gauthier impressed me a lot with his power moves, drew penalties and have shown flashes of dominance. This coach benches him after one mediocre game. It is inexcusable.

Next year it is LAF or Quinn and I am afraid it will be Quinn because he is friends with Gorton.

If your primary concern is development then Quinn has done a decent job, aside from Gauthier who I agree should get more ice time. The #1s all started out with limited even strength minutes and now play 14-15 minutes with special team time 15 games into the season. Quinn can't just impart experience onto them but he has installed a system that creates scoring chances. I would throw Mika in the trade mix. He's affordable, has a year left and I can't see the Rangers resigning him. I don't know if Quinn is the future but 15 games into the season is a pretty small sample.

Love how all the sideline gms knows exactly what is going on behind the scenes. You have no clue if the rangers asked about a certain player or tried to get a player before he retired.

Love you how kiss the ass of every coach we have and never, ever, hold them accountable. Please wake the board when one of the main vets on this team has been scratched for shit play instead of a kid .

This year is not about winning games, it's about developing talent. And when they lose Quinn gets ripped. And if they lost game after game "developing talent" he'd be destroyed and fired.

This year is not about winning games, it's about developing talent. They could have signed 100 year old Boyle or Koivu.

This year is not about winning games, it's about developing talent. Kakko is playing 15 MPG, Lafreniere is playing 14;30 MPG.

    Have to love NY fans.

Lafreniere has played plenty of games in the top 6 with Z or Strome, and he has 1 point, 1. Not knocking him overall, but right now he is being played the way he should be IMO. Not just tossed to the wolves.

Is Quinn not the same coach who benched D'Angelo at the start of the season when he played like trash? The issue with benching an underperformer like Zibanejad is he plays Center, who are the Rangers going to give more minutes to in his place? Chytil is out for a while, Strome is already getting #2 C minutes. Howden hasn't improved. Rooney has played with some spark but he isn't in the long term plans for this team.
Also, I am of the opinion it's not the best way to get a slumping player going by benching him. Put them in situations where they can perform and hold them accountable when it matters the most, during contract negotiations.
I still think Kreider is the one who could/should be moved down in the line combinations in favor of LaF. Play LaF with Z and Buch, Kreider with Howden/Rooney, DiG. Keep Kreider on PP1 but swap Z with Strome. Have Z center Kakko and LaF on PP2. See what happens there.
But here I go, talking like I think I know something....

I wish we had that 6.5 mill going to Kreider freed up to sign a C, or we would have kept Hayes over Kreider. Once we got Lafreniere, it made the Kreider deal even worse IMO. We have plenty of wingers, and don't need 6.5 per for 7 years spent on show up 40% of the time Mr. Invisible Kreider. Is what it is now, but that's the reality.

I have seen nothing from Kreider that tells me he will ever be more than a 25-27 goal guy who is streaky as F. There is value in that don't get me wrong, but not on a team with a slew of good young wingers that can play in the top 6. Positionally it doesn't work at 6.5 per. And at this point he won't get better, he'll only get worse over the next 3 years or so.

Chuck, kreids can be a lot better I’ll admit and should be on the third line at the moment so Laf can be up on the 1st or 2nd but right now hands down the most disappointing player is z man who with 1 goal for the season is a disgrace. He plays the pp1, the OT ETC. if college boy wanted to make a point with him start limiting his minutes until he gets his head out of his ass and starts scoring. Right now I’d rather see Rooney and Blackwell out there ahead of him. And yes, I agree with you if they knew they would get the top pick kreids would probably be in Boston right now. But the fact is they didn’t and kreids actually took a hometown discount to stay here so I give credit for someone that wants to be here just like the breadman took less to be here instead of the islanders. I really wish as long as this is a throw away season that they’d get Barron up here to get some experience!

Had we known we were about to hit the lottery and draft Lafreniere, Im sure JG and JD would have done a lot of things differently including the Kreider situation. But we didnt have the benefit of that information at the time. No doubt Kreider like pretty much every veteran we have is not getting it done right now and his contract doesnt look great. But I think it was the right move at the time. Cant have a room full of young kids and Kreider was signed to be a leader in addition to his skill set.

It's a fair point that Hayes as a C is more valuable than Kreids, but he is not the type of player you can rely on in the playoffs. We saw that first hand for years and it drove us all nuts. He plays a soft game and is just not a leader. Last year was the first time he ever showed up on the scoresheet consistently in the playoffs. Giving him the contract he got and a permanent seat as a top 6 C would not have been in our long term interest. Once we are competitive I'd rather have Kreider's speed and size on the wings than Hayes' looping circles around the offensive zone and stupid tilted visor.

But no doubt we need an upgrade at C. I was beating that drum all offseason long and will continue to do so. It was an odd trademarket this summer, but we know what we're dealing with now. Gorton has to find a fit. Still think Calgary needs to blow it up and we can pry Monahan out of there.

No doubt cannot get on JD/Gorton at all regarding the Lafreniere situation, who knew we'd win the lottery. My point was it made a bad signing even worse IMO. I didn't like the Kreider signing when they did it. Kreider is who he is, a limited player who disappears for long stretches. At this point I am of the belief that will never change.

I think his re-signing was done for the wrong reasons. Well, we want to try and win at some point, and we cannot trade every vet, Kreider is the last vet left, okay let's re-sign him if we can keep him under 7 mill per. That's how I think it went down. And based on position, I absolutely rather have Hayes if I were given the choice.

With that said, and I am mainly talking to myself here, it is what it is and that ship has sailed. Hopefully the 6.5 per for a long time that Kreider is getting doesn't become a total albatross. And I do give him credit for taking less, but he also got a NTC for that discount.

As for Z, I agree mel, he has been awful, even worse than Kreider. But he plays C and we are so thin there, double so with Chytil out, plus he plays on the PK, and he takes big faceoffs (yes struggling this year). Sitting him to move a guy like Rooney up just doesn't make sense. Also, and maybe this is not fair, I give him a bit of a break because the guy had Covid literally days before the season started. That may not be fair to give him a little break due to that at this point, but I do. But yes no doubt Z has been bad, and needs to be MUCH MUH better and soon.

As for needing a C, we all (including me head of the line), need to stop touting I knew they needed a C and said it 500 times in August etc. Everyone and their brother knows we need a C badly, so that is not breaking news, or something one person is calling out. We all said it, we all know it, Gorton/JD need to deal from the excess prospects we have, and get a top 6 C in here this summer. I still think Eichel can/will be the guy, unless the Sabres make the playoffs this year, and keep Hall.

Misleading to say Kreider was signed only because he was the last vet. Even if that was the case, he was the last vet for a reason. He brings a lot of the on and off ice attributes that have been emphasized ever since the rebuild. Size, speed, character, etc. It is a huge clue as to how the organization viewed Kreider vs Hayes that Hayes as a C was the one traded away while Kreider as a winger was signed. You can disagree with the reasoning, and it is a valid criticism that his disappearing acts are continuing to be a problem, but it was a calculated decision and was not just "well he's the last guy here so let's sign him."

The covid situation with Z is real. There are numerous examples of pro athletes taking a good amount of time to get back up to speed across all sports. My concern though is that Z's offseason training and off ice work ethic were already in question and one of the reasons OTT decided to move on from him. Is he doing everything he needs to do to get back in shape? Had he already been slacking off with his training when he got it, putting him even farther behind the 8 ball for this season? Dont know, but he has been SO bad, so far beyond whatI would have expected even with covid, that it is fair to ask. He flubbed more one timers over the past 3 games than he did all last year.

Chytil getting hurt this year really complicates the C situation, and the upcoming decision on Zibanejad. If Chytil was continuing to improve and show signs of a future 2C as he was earlier this year, maybe we decide we can afford to move on from Zbad and go all in on Eichel or another target at that caliber. Now it's a question mark of whether Z is still our near term 1C and we go after a lesser target. Lots of moving pieces here made more complicated by the Chytil injury. Hopefully he is back soon.

I don't think it's misleading. His contract was up last, which is a fact, so that left him as the last vet standing. It is my opinion that was a factor in his re-signing (you don't have to agree with that as it's my opinion), but that doesn't make it misleading.

Hayes' contract was up before Kreider's, so a decision had to be made on him first. Yes they could have re-signed him and then dealt Kreider a year later, but my opinion is they were in full sell mode until last season. If it was reverse and they still kept Kreider, you'd be spot on, that was not the case though. We don't know for sure if my opinion of Kreider's contract timing as the last vet standing is true as mentioned, but that's how I feel. They felt we have to keep some vet, and we are closer to winning within 1-2 years when Kreider is up, so they kept him.

We agree 100% on Z. As I said earlier, I give him a break due to Covid, I really do. And I also couldn't agree more. He has been so awful on his bread and butter one-timers, it tells me very clearly he is very much off his game. It's a great indicator to me.

Agreed, hope Chytil is back soon to see what he really is. I think the Z decision doesn't need to be made until next season anyway, and I think we'll be all in on Eichel this summer. We can afford both Z and Eichel if we want, so I kind of think they won't directly be tied together. Maybe a bigger factor is can Chytil play the role of # 2 C, but even then I expect the Rangers to be all in on Eichel if he becomes available.

Now if you watched the Islanders coach who has a brain unlike Quinn, you saw that he put Wahlstrom on the top PP unit because of his one timer and let him one time the puck. Our dumb fuck coach refuses to do that with Kakko. One of many examples of why this shithead needs to be fired immediately.

Have to give Kravtsov a chance first. Whalstrom is not a good skater and never will be. Kravtsov has everything you need to be a 60+ point guy. It was his work ethic and defense that was a concern to me. He seemed to get that under control when he came back for his second AHL stint. Now he can come back. With him here I expect the following after Quinn is fired which I don't believe will be much longer. I expect the Rangers to trade Howden and DeAngelo in deals. I expect Howden and Blackwell to go for Bennett. DeAngelo to Detroit for picks and a prospect. Rooney will be an extra. Di Guiseppi will probably go for a pick as well.

    Panarin-Chytil-Kakko
    Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Kreider
    Buchnevich-Stome-Kravtsov
    Lemieux-Bennett-Gauthier

No provided Zibanejad can pull his head out of his ass at some point this year, that is a forward group you can win games with. Obviously, I'd rather move Strome out for a center that can win faceoffs at a high level. Replace Buchnevich with Barron as well.

Every time I think you can't get more ridiculous, you go ahead and top yourself, kudos to you non-Rangers fan. If percentages were placed on all your nonsensical spewing's, 99.999999999% of what you wrote never happens (you know like book it Dubois will be here - in addition to the 7000 trades and moves through the years you said would happen and never did). But I love how you list like 6 things that have no shot of happening, but do so as if they are a done deal.

That is the height of delusion. I needed a good laugh in the morning, so thank you.

Chuck why is laughable to you?

Dump is spot on with the lineup. I don't understand why this doesn't make sense to you? Not that I care too much to convince you, but the lineup that he put together makes sense to me. What doesn't make sense to you? Chytil at this point probably is better than Z, both Kakko and LFA are on the top 2 lines, which is the way it should be. You want Blackwell to play on the 1st line and Di Guiseppi on the second? Two career AHLers?

It is a nice balanced lineup with a mix of veterans and super-talented kids who come along once in 50 years, and we have two of them. In this lineup, the vets can help kids develop and also contribute.

What is the problem? If you are going to comment, then explain your vision here.

My only problem is Gauthier. I like the guy a lot. He is a power forward with speed and strength. I like him better than Kreider in regards to talent. He needs to play at least on the 3 line for now but there is just no room for him on top 9.

    100% agree with dump.

Chuck like Quinn is a retard. He's a fucking tool. Check his posting history. Wants to trade all our picks and prospects. Wants to keep playing scrubs who have a few hot games. He's an embarrassment to our fan base.
