You could play him as a small ball center, the way the Warriors are doing (largely by necessity, since all their other centers are hurt) with Draymond Green. Green can't shoot even as well as Blake, but his distributing ability is working pretty well. Griffin's main defensive weakness at this point is his lack of quickness and burst, but he can still bang with big men, considering this era is light on huge centers who are big scoring threats.
Blake griffin could be our Draymond green? Except for the defense obviously. Its always nice having more facilitators for our plethora of 3 point shooters. That said... he is hot garbage and is only being talked about because of his name.
So he’s not trying with a huge contract on a bad team, but he’s going to try hard on the vet minimum if he buys out his own contract for the vet minimum, off the bench in limited minutes, for a non-championship team in Portland? God no. Stay far away. He shouldn’t get a single minute on this roster. His knees must be as bad a Brandon Roy’s at this stage of his career. Let him go to the Lakers and Mitch Richmond his way to a title and then retire.
If any GM expects Griffin to be Draymond Green at this stage of career, that GM should be out of a job. The season is happening. This is an off-season thread, and a bad one at that.
Blake made his money and is mailing it in now....is what it is...dude got paid, commercials, the works...he probably wants his career in action comedies to start soon..he's a regular on celebrity roasts nowadays...he might put an effort in if he's on a team with a coach he likes...it's kind of a crapshoot
Prior to his knee injury towards the end of the 2018-19 season, Blake maybe more so than anyone else I can recall did a great job of transforming his game as his athleticism started to fail him. That was after he got this contract so in my opinion it's more of his body just didn't hold up, which happens sometimes, not that he mailed it in.
I'd say sitting down until you're traded at his cost is about as mailing it in as you can get....doesn't want to risk injury but still gets paid..and as I said...for a players coach, he might pick up his game....I've been reading he's playing in cement boots now....but I don't watch him at all.
He's better at the 5 than Melo, that's for damn sure but I agree that we need an actual big. Maybe now that Russell is out maybe a little longer than CJ the Wolves will do CJ for KAT... they're not known for being forward thinkers.
I didn't say anything about his current ability or situation, just that his mailing it in didn't occur when he got paid. Also, it looks like it was a mutual decision from the team as well so it's not like he just quit or anything. If he gets bought out he'd likely have to give up a significant amount of money too.
Here’s a trade that helps us this season and beyond: Timberwolves trade us: K-A Towns E. Davis A. Edwards! and their 2021 #1 pick (must be Top 3 or it goes to Warriors and if the 2021 winds up going to Golden State, we instead obtain their 2022 #1 pick as fall-back option with no protections); Trailblazers send J. Nurkic CJ McCollum R. Hood we can assess Towns this year and re-sign him if he’s a fit. If not, we have opened up cap space to re-sign Trent, Collins, etc.
Blake is dogging it in Detroit. The Batum move that he pulled on Charlotte. He’ll have a blatant resurgence in Portland. Get it done, Neil!
Having watched Detroit a couple times this year (Jerami Grant is on my fantasy team) I wouldn't trade my old car for him. It went to the junk yard a few years ago following an accident, but at least it was worth $400 or so as scrap metal. He's slow, can't shoot & seemed completely disinterested... why would we want to commit a roster spot to that? I don't think he's dogging it, he's just done. STOMP
Yes As much as we like to look at these guys as money grubbers... that’s not always the case. He would probably like to use his body towards achieving something. It happens a lot oh and by the way..... He would start here
