Proof again you're only here to hopefully be proven right by the team losing.

It's one thing to be critical of the team (like me and many others) or be "homers"... but to now blatantly say you're waiting for the team to fail so you can say I told you so. You admitted it. Just accept it. You don't care about the team, you care about being right.

And even if you dont say it, know that I and many others know that's your true intentions.

Just own it. We all see it.

I sincerely believe that if, as an ownership group, they just fired Neil and gave the new GM autonomy, that there is no way in hell that he would keep Terry. He'd want his own guy and he'd want to put his stamp on the team to show his view of what the right pieces around Dame are. Maybe the guy will be a genius and I'll be wrong and he'll get the perfect coach to optimize the Dame/CJ combo. Any way you look at it, unless we make a run to the WCF and win at least a game, then Olshey has to go and by extension Stotts will follow him out the door.

Owners don't usually let a new GM change the Coach immediately.

When Paul Allen moved Bob Whitsitt from Blazer GM to Seahawk duties 5/7/03, the 76ers were already clamoring to interview Coach Mo Cheeks. Suddenly, Allen put his foot down and refused them. It would have been too much change at once. He was searching for a new GM, and had Cheeks double as GM, preparing for the draft, until Allen hired Steve Patterson 6/18/03. So the 76ers promoted their assistant coach to head coach 6/20/03. Whitsitt had to run our draft, and Cheeks lasted here another season and a half.

So I advocate getting it over, changing both, not just the GM, because we'd have to wait a long time for the dust to clear, and the Coach to go.

80% of the league have mediocre GM's & Coaches and its been that way over the last 30 years or better. Stand back and look at all the teams that have been nothing more than average over three/four decades.
There has to be either or whole bunch of luck or become a magnate for super stars to launch a team in to the 20% that contend year in year out.
10 teams of 30 have won championships over 40 years some multiple. Its a league of average teams all wanting to join the elite.
Brady leaves New England the team plummets, what happened to the genius coach GM&Owner. Its the players!

If you are one that has to have a team in contention every year, just jump from elite team to elite team, the few there are because otherwise your just a fan of an average team at best. Which is tough but fine by me. The NBA was genius in expanding playoffs years ago and marketing the brand.

Trust me, I would if I could.

I want us to build a championship roster with components that have proven to win titles year after year. Once we have that in place, if the current coach at the time (Stotts of whoever) can't win in 2-3 years, they should be fired.

Olshey has had 9 years and hasn't provided even 50% of what it would take to be a real championship contender.

Why do you think Jody or Bert dont make a change and demand better? This always has to start at the top.

That may have been the trend in the days of Trader Bob but look around the league, almost every new GM hires a new head coach and in this situation with Stotts having that unprecedented tenure, I will guarantee you that the Vulcans and/or Jody will give the new GM the green light unless Dame does something that I don't think he would ever do and says that he'll demand a trade if Stotts is let go. Then I think the new GM would demand that he gets to hire a defensive associate head coach (coordinator) for Stotts.

I'm hoping it's misguided patience due to Neil's great sales skills and I hope and think that it has to be running thin. Maybe not on Jody's part but on Vulcan's side of things for sure.

We differ on this stuff and that's alright. I do want my team to be better than 80% of teams and I think that giving a GM and Head Coach tandem nine years to prove they can get above that fray was too long and ten years would be even more egregious. I believe that given the right pieces that Dame is the kind of elite superstar that can launch a team into that 20%, if you don't that's another place we differ on. As a fan I am angry that our team has settled for mediocre and I'm hoping the upper management (Vulcan) and owner (Jody) are sick of it and I think one more mediocre season will do it.

I just don't believe you're OK with not getting to the Finals with a guy as great as Dame on the team, correct me if I'm wrong.

They know the business, and in this league if you are in that above average group and making money and/ or hitting playoffs year and reside outside of that Big Town, its comfort Zone.
If Bert or Jody want change change will happen.

I agree with what you say and would hope their plan every years is to advance and improve. I just wonder if the feel the same way and how they objectively measure both Neil's and Stott's performance. Im sure Jody and Bert have an improvement plan in place and are reviewing progress to plan mthly, qtrly, yearly. They must be hitting their marks as far as Jody and Bert are concerned up to now any way? Change will come.

I think that trade is haunting Neil ^

Probably why he’s the most conservative GM in the history of sports.

As long as they squeak into the Playoffs he’s fine with mediocrity - job security.
