@SlyPokerDog can we have a post of the year award? Obviously I would win it every year, but would be willing to back out of the competition to let some of these losers get more than a spelling bee participation trophy to hang on their wall.
Post of the year goes to the people of Atlanta who voted by mail to flip the state...best posts ever!
Since I'm the only one here who ever won a spelling bee, this thread must be about me. Quality thread!
Rejected from Mensa, I see. Still, you pulled yourself by your boot laces and made something (global moderator) out of yourself... An inspiring story for sure.
I see that there's been a little understandable confusion and I don't want to further it. While I'm Asian, I'm not what Americans think of as "Asian"...I'm Indian (that is, of ancestry from India, not Native American). When Americans think of Asia, they usually don't think of India, I've noticed. Whereas, in the UK, Asia means India first to most people and then the other nations. That's been my observation anyway.
So was I. And then I won against my district, and then the county. Finished 5th in state. So, I was 5 places from going to the Scripps National in DC. It has all been downhill since.
Never had spelling bees when I was in school, which disappointed me as I am a very good speller. Not a good typist, though.
