We get most of the standard vaccines, but usually don’t mess with flu shots and probably won’t mess with the COVID one any time soon. Nothing against them really (aside from the COVID one being rushed and mass produced) We just usually stay pretty active and healthy and don’t get affected by the flu much. We also had COVID and were able to navigate it without too much trouble, so hopefully have some natural immunity built up. Apparently if you’ve already had it your chances to contract/spread are extremely low.
You know that that has nothing to do with whether you can catch a communicable disease, right? Take Polio for instance. Struck people in the prime of life. The vaccine was a miracle. Or AIDS. Magic Johnson contacted HIV when he was a pro athlete. I never get the flu either, but this ain't the flu.
No but it has everything to do with its impact. The London Telegraph reports that a study of 100 countries by the World Obesity Federation found that 2.2 million of 2.5 million deaths occurred in countries with high levels of obesity. The study noted that death rates were discovered to be 10 times higher in nations where more than 50% the population was overweight. According to the study, in countries without obesity problems, the death rate from the virus was no higher than 10 per 100,000 population. “We now know that an overweight population is the next pandemic waiting to happen,” noted Dr Tim Lobstein, the author of the report, senior policy adviser to the World Obesity Federation and visiting professor at the University of Sydney. Britain, which has the third highest COVID death rate in the world, also has fourth highest obesity rate. On the flip side, Vietnam has one of the lowest levels of obesity in the world, and also has the lowest COVID death rate. The new study backs up findings from Lancet published research last year which noted that obesity increases the risk of death from Covid-19 by around 50 per cent. The findings have prompted stark warnings from the World Health Organisation, with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general noting “This report must act as a wake-up call to governments globally. The correlation between obesity and mortality rates from Covid-19 is clear and compelling.”
This. I've read that the vaccinations may have a lower efficacy rate in preventing you from catching the new mutant strains, but they remain highly effective in reducing serious symptoms should you catch the mutant strains. Me? I got shot numero uno. My next plan is to avoid mutants, like @EL PRESIDENTE. (You know I love you, El-P.) FAMS!
Label it "bleach" and put it in a red bottle with MAGA on the label...they'll take it as many times as you want them to!
I had the measles when I was about seven, Doctor quarantined our house. Still got the vaccine a year or two later and happy to get it even at 8 or 9. I also did very poorly when I got the measles. Went into a coma. All I can remember is chicken noodle soup and sevenup.
I'm in favor of cussing. It's a known fact that cussing at your advisory will eventually get him to support your view of things. Sometimes you have to really get harsh with your language if your advisory is stubborn. In the words of Tyrant of Ants, when they try to convince you with gentle kindness, just tell them fuck that shit.
OK, go to the Black and Latino neighborhoods and start cussing then! Call them uneducated morons for not believing in science!
I remember my mother sitting by my bed trying to give me soup and tea from a spoon. I was five, with a roaring fever, rash from head to toe, and internal inflammation all down GI tract and urinary tract. I would cry while she tried to coax another spoonful into me because it hurt so much to swallow. I was old enough to go to the bathroom on my own, but so weak from fever my mother would walk me there. I remember sitting on the toilet holding her hands and crying because it hurt so much to urinate. This is what the anti-vaxxers want to put their children through.
I never made it out of bed. The doctor had to visit me in my home. I don't remember using the bathroom. I must have gone to the bathroom but I have no memory of it. Yeah, some people are that stupid that they won't get the shot nor will they allow their children to get one. Makes me angry.
It has everything to do with how your body fights disease, it absolutely does. Even COVID. This ain’t the flu, but it ain’t polio either.
But they're similar. Both have effective vaccines. Both are infectious viruses. However, Covid-19 is more infectious
I mean if those are the metrics you wanna use you could literally call it similar to nearly any virus out there lol.
True that young healthy people are less likely to get severely ill and die from Covid-19, although risk is not zero. But you could infect someone older, not in good health, who might not survive. Don't jump the queue. If you are young, healthy, not front line workers, wait your turn, but when it is your turn, get the damn shot
