Thought deserved a thread on its own. - everyone is not on same page defensively. - we're selfish on offense. - We don't seem to understand our potential. - Need to hold each other accountable. if only 2 people are playing hard, it's not really gonna change anything. - With the attention Dame/CJ get, we need to change the offense -- then says he's gonna take it on himself to try to do more. Just bombshell quotes in my opinion. It seems as if he's done giving a shit about this inept coaching and will "go rogue" again. I think reading between the lines here reveals a lot. Terry consistently chews out and singles out Nurk while he is one of our best defenders who actually gets aggressive on that end. As I have been saying for a while, he and much of this roster is handcuffed and neutered by our dumbass conservative coaching that hasn't made a single strategic change in nearly a decade. I'm glad Nurk seems like he's done giving a shit about it and will take it on himself to jumpstart us. He was unequivocally our second best player in the past, need to see that again. Contrast this to idiot Terry claiming we have no issues and we're not in a funk in his hissy fit in his postgame interview-- he's losing the team.
Nurk going public with what many have been saying for at least a couple of years. - everyone is not on same page defensively. - Some playing defense while others are not? The coach holding some accountable and not others? - we're selfish on offense. - Dame/CJ take the vast majority of shots no matter who else is hot or if one or both of them are cold. - We don't seem to understand our potential. - We don't play teammates who have potential and keep playing some whose time has passed. - Need to hold each other accountable. if only 2 people are playing hard, it's not really gonna change anything. - Wow...this seems a direct shot at some specific individuals. Not sure who he is singling out, but Nurk doesn't say things randomly. He is one of the more direct, non-PC quotes you will get. - With the attention Dame/CJ get, we need to change the offense -- then says he's gonna take it on himself to try to do more. Again, a bit of a shot across the bow at Stotts and how everything revolves around 2 guys getting most of the shots (and playing the least amount of defense?). Appreciate Nurkic being honest. Certainly Stotts won't be. He gets softball questions every night and then when one reporter (Quick) does ask him an even semi-tough question which really is just an obvious reality based query, Terry gets his underwear in a bunch and gets snarky, condesending, or plain irritated....when it is the obvious question that no one else is asking.
Nurkic is definitely one of those tell-it-like-he-sees-it kind of guys. Heart on his sleeve. Dude has battled through too much--injuries, family problems, the Denver situation--and isn't going to sit quietly as things fall apart.
Reading between the media trained lines, he’s pretty much saying it’s mostly Stotts fault. The offense is pretty much just Dame and CJ and Melo doing what they want. That’s on Stotts. We don’t know our potential. We= Stotts. He doesn’t trust anyone outside those three. Doesnt even make an effort to get other guys shots. If they do, it’s mostly just Dame making reads rather than actual plays being run. Accountability quote is a shot at Stotts too. Never holds CJ and Melo accountable and treats them the same as Dame, when they’re levels below. Dicks all the younger players around. Just look at Nas’ minutes. He should be taking ALL of Melos minutes, not just some. He played less than 10 non garbage time minutes last night. That’s unacceptable.
Terry's postgame interview was aggravating. His justification for us not being in a funk was a win over Detroit, one of the worst teams in the league. His excuse for the Clippers and Jazz games were they are two of the best teams in the West. Loser's mentality. You can't find a solution if you don't see a problem. He needs to go.
The Players know it, and i cant imagine that Stotts and his useless staff are so dumb to not see the reality, but the problem is absolutely nothing changes. They all know the problems but nothing is gonna change. It feels like nobody gives a shit about anything anymore
I don't think that CJ and Dame shoot too much, if you look at the other teams in the top 6 of the WC, their #'s are not too far off (cept for Phoenix). Considering Damian averages more points than anyone else in the western conference (not named Steph Curry...who shoots more per game too), it kind of makes sense that he shoots more. CJ shouldn't only shoot 1 shot less for 6 or so fewer points though. BUT I think this is clearly a sign that the team (as a whole) can see the issues they have with the coach. And realistically, they can't continue phoning it in as much as they do, NOR can they afford to have such a limited and simplistic offense that Stotts (overly) relies on.
I thing the bigger issue with Dame/CJ shooting so much is that then the other players are basically asked to stand around in the corner and then get back and play defense not only on their own man but also help on Dame/CJ's as well. That gets old in a hurry.
100% agreed. The fact that they don't utilize Jones athleticism, or Little period, or even take advantage of Simons skillset, is exactly why the team sucks on offense (which is saying a lot, considering how they're like 3rd ranked on offense). It's not hard to handle the teams offense on top of their easily handled defense. I'd gladly be top 10 offense if it means top 20 defense, instead of top 3 offense and 29th defensively. And for the love of god, it's not like the team doesn't have horses who can play defense!! Defense isn't complicated. it's about effort. You're telling me that Draymond Green is more athletic than Jones Jr or Little? FFS...
The issue is the first point of attack....that is Dame/CJ. It would be like having a midieval fort with a moat around it but you can't close the front gate. Guessing that kingdom would not be dominating the region.
