Saturday morning, I was given the greatest gift possible, my very first child at age 35. He was a couple of weeks early, a C-section birth, but fully grown and came out with no health issues. Downside? Haven't really browsed S2 since last Wednesday. Dad life is very interesting. It's mainly been diaper/swaddle/bottle boot camp. Doing stuff like changing diapers was a little scary to think about until you actually begin to do it and realize this guy is depending on you, and it becomes second nature. Not to mention, while she's recovering from her surgery, she is limited on activities, so Super Dad is here to the rescue. There's nothing I wouldn't do for him, and he hasn't even been here a week yet. Getting a good feed and sleep routine down has gone pretty well so far, even though I know it will probably change next week as his feeding demands change more to his liking rather than our set schedule. What are/were some of your experiences like?
Nice. Don't call him sly, unless it is slyPokerHCPBenDavis Life is different now son. Gotta be responsible. In 18-21 years it will be easier. Enjoy. And take a lot embarrassing photos. It might come handy
Congratulations!...I'm going through dad flashbacks as my 11 month old grandson stays with us two days a week and my wife cares for him two days at our son's house...it's a pure joy. I'm enjoying being a teacher again...our little guy loves books and all my instruments already...plays atonal rock style two fisted piano ...cracks me up...strums a ukelele already...got him a little hand drum the size of a tambourine to thump on..he's going through diaper change rebellion...squirms away while you change him...it's so wonderful to see new baby humans discover something different everyday before they grow up and think they know everything already. Today he learned to smell a flower from a shrub without trying to eat it...big lesson.
Congrats! You will hear that it goes fast so enjoy it...and it's true. Mine are 21 and 23 tomorrow, both girls. Ugh Sounds like you got your hands full with baby and mama. Good job dad.
Congrats to you brother! Best thing that ever happened to me. I pray on everything that's holy that it's first word is "FAMS"!!!!!
Thats awesome. I would give a limb to have just a few days with my kids as babies. They are 15-12-9 now, still youngish, but man...newborns and babies are incredible. Remember the old saying, the 'days are long but the years are fast', because it is 100% the truth. My advice would just be you cant do too much with them, you cant spend too much time with them, cant love them too much. I think parenting is hard but really if you try to be great, you'll be great.
Congrats dude. Ours is 9 months old now. Still trying to figure out what the heck we're doing.... also, childcare is insanely expensive. $1800 a month for five days a week
Is it, though? Congratulations, for sure, though... FAMS! Enjoy it - it goes fast. Can’t believe my oldest is a teenager now. I’m not even “old” yet. Take lots of pictures. Make lots of adventures. And you don’t always know it at the time, but some of the best memories are the simple evenings at home, grilling out, playing in the hard, and maybe ending the night watching a movie or playing board games.
35 years old? Don't you think that's a little long gestation? Does this mean the baby had a very long beard when born?
Dad life is the best, congrats! I was 35 when we had our first and 37 for the next one. I find that it just keeps getting better and better. Age 2 is better than 1, age 4 is better than 2, etc. Mine are young adults now and we have a great relationships, so experiencing them as adults is great too. My advice: You only get them for a short time, especially those delicious early years. Milk it up. Savor it. Take time for it.
