Hey @Darkwebs , I have really noticed something this season and didn't know if it has always been this way. The game threads for games we LOSE, the amount of posts are A LOT higher than the games threads for games that we win. Drastically different.
Like TWICE as many posts. What do you think the reason is for this?

Yes this has been a trend for a while.

You'll also notice certain people pop in or post way more frequently when we're down 10 and if we come back go oddly silent with an amazing amount of consistency.

All I can conclude is some people like to be upset about something and can't enjoy success.

Yep. I also don’t understand all the broad negative statements in the first half of a game because horror of horror, we’re down 10. It’s like people have never watched a game before. Unless we’re up 50-0, there’s something wrong. And even if we are up 50-0, they don’t like the way we did it. Too much iso.

Not goin to check all of them, but I think, you missed something.

It was always this way. At least as I remember it.

There were never much excitement here, when we play to weak teams. And opposite, a lot, when we play to good teams.

This season just look like this. We takin Ls from good teams and W from bad.

    This is the reality.

You guys use it to bash posters, that see, there is no progress in this team for years and I believe, that you are on the wrong here. You keep looking for nonbasketball arguments that confirm "we not in the funk", cos non basketball related arguments are only you have.

I would guess that the stress of losing causes more issues than the joy of winning.

    It's not rocket science.

    My excuse:

I live 9 hours ahead of Portland time, Blazers home games starts here at 4am and i dont want to waste my sleep to watch CJ dribble dribble dribble or Melo isolation or Terry "no Adjustments" Stotts staying courtside having still no idea what to when Dame get's trapped after 5 fucking years. Dame is the only reason i wake up in the middle of the night but i have reduced it this season

There is a game coming against the Clippers. I would be willing to bet that thread has quite a bit of activity. If the Blazers happen to win that game it might look like a win that has a lot of posts in the game thread.
    Just spit balling here.

I like to stick to posting about basketball, and try not to get sucked into personality traits of other posters and the psychology of why they post something. (My only exception is when i try to provide insights to Aldo to improve his dating success. :) )

“You guys” “bash”? Not sure what this last part of your post means.
I don’t remember threads in the past win we win games, being so small. Thats all I was asking, not sure about the other stuff you added.

I believe HCP created the shortest threads in history....the crayola crayon threads....both of them were pretty anemic.....HCP keeps making shortest in history records so this is just another. BUMP!!!

I think 15-16 pages is about average. When they lose you get an additional 15 pages of the same "critiquing" that certain posters think they need to say after every loss. Like they think somehow by repeating it over and over it will make a difference. It's kind of like watching cable news where you can pretty much watch it on Monday and skip the rest of the week as they repeat their agenda for the next few days. The difference being this forum has a much smaller audience and we all read every post. Repeating it over and over may be therapeutic for some but to most of us, it is just plain irritating. (whether we agree or not)

May we see your spreadsheet, in which you collected data in your study?

To reverse your one-sided perception on its head into my perception: You're right. Fanboys post more after losses, feeling the need to defend against strawmen they imagine are attacking their castle of faith. This causes losses to have more posts.

This is the best answer. More fans watch/post in games against good teams (higher probability of being a loss for us), than against bad teams (more tendency to be wins). Similarly, TV ratings are higher if networks match winning teams than losing ones. Duh. It has nothing to do with board Don Quixotes tilting at windmills.
