Respectfully i will pass on arguing with you that coaching is important in basketball. I don't see the point. For me it feels like you say earth is flat.

We don't have to argue. I'm just curious why you think coaches are so underpaid given the premium value you put on them.

The facts are that teams spend about $3m per win ($120m/41wins). They also pay their head coach on average $3m. $3m = 1 win. If a coach were truly worth 10 wins, he would command $30m/year. I would argue that number would be higher because it does not have salary or tax implications.

I provided the data on what type of value ownership and GM's put on their head coaches (same as a vet min player, up to a MLE player). That would be the opposite of the flat-earth theory, which is more of an anecdotal take.

I don't know, I'm not too disheartened. At least we're not playing like garbage. Effort was there, guys seemed focused. Similar to a lot of our matchups with the Nuggets, where the game came down to one or two shots. I think we just lost to a better, more talented team and to take them in a 7 game series we'd need guys like Nurk to play above and beyond. I don't think he's done that once this season. Thought Simons played well. Covington and Kanter played their roles well. When I look at the positional matchups with Denver, I just don't see anything we can exploit. Our three starting guards just run into size trying to penetrate and are forced to jump shoot or kick out.

I agree with what you're saying but the problem might be that they are the better more talented team, even without Murray. Where does that really put our roster at in terms of trying to contend or even making it out of the first round?

That’s always the argument of the Stotts fanboys. Who’s gonna take this team to a championship as constructed? Maybe no one. Maybe someone. But we won’t know that until Terry’s ass is fired.

False on every count as usual. That’s some fucked up logic you just presented. Fans pay to watch the players play, not the coaches. Hard stop.

As long as we depend on volume threes and have a back court thats not only small but not great defensibly its going to be tough to beat out teams like Denver & LA with length at all positions mostly.

We went away from our most efficient player in Norman Powell. While the Nuggets are cutting and passing the ball, the Blazers are playing heavy isolation as Damian and CJ take turns going one on one.

Not gonna cut it against good teams.

The numbers I provided are wrong? NBA teams pay their coaches way more than their players? Got any links to back that up?

It is possible teams have way over-valued their players and under-valued their coaches for all these years. With the salary floor, there are some restrictions to the conclusion, but it doesn't explain why coaches make so little if their impact is as great as some people say.

Strange that RHJ didn't even play right? You have a great game 24 h ago then you are benched? Help me understand that. Surely he could have provided some rim protection. Are there other teams where a guy plays down the stretch in the 4th quarter in a nail biter, then is benched the next night?

That decision is 100 percent coaching.

Possibly Stotts thinks of RHJ as a center, so when he has his two main guys able to play, RHJ doesn't?

    COACHING:

you start RH-J amd the next night he doesn’t even play?

it’s mind-fucks like this that kill a team from the inside out.

last night Ant hits a three and seconds later he’s pulled for the balance of the game. What does this “coaching” do to a kids psyche?

pick & roll. pick & roll. pick & roll. pick & roll. This is THE offense! What kind of “coaching is this?” No wonder we don’t use an available time out to set up a play...WE DONT HAVE PLAYS!

CJ should have been traded. Period. Adding RH-J and Leaf? Don’t get me started on the GM.

top-down, this needs to be blown up

That's my problem with him being our next coach Dame and CJ loves him so how much accountable willl hold them on there play because right I don't see any under Stotts.
