After his third ankle surgery that was announced today should the Blazers resign Collins? And if yes for how big of a contract?

If he can finally get healthy, then we'd have a good role player on a minimum deal. Would rather gamble a vet minimum on that instead of on an Anthony Tolliver type.

No! It’s time to cut ties. Seeing the Collins fashion show during the game just pisses me off.

I wouldn’t offer him anything. The risk is not worth the reward. Even when healthy, Collins is only an average player. Time to cut him loose.

If I was a betting man I say they extend the qualifying offer to him for 7m for next year and Portland keeps his bird rights. Neil has too much tied to Zach to bail now.

The bench needs a servicable big man. As long as Collins is under contract, Olshey won't bring that guy in.

I answered yes to a multi year deal but that's a little misleading because I think that deal should be for 4M a season with the first year guaranteed, the second year only partially guaranteed and the third year a team option. I definitely would not extend the QO. The guy is not worth 7M.

If they do, it better be a long term minimum deal with a team option so the team has some upside. Paying him whatever salary next + whatever his salary is in the lux tax to see no production = ouch.

Is it legal to sign him to a 2way?

Yep. Vet minimum or 2 way. Keep him on the payroll and help him get healthy if he can.

Assuming they don't give him the QO, this third surgery very well may have saved Jody a ton of tax money.

I voted minimum deal, but I'd be OK with like 7M/2 or 10M/3.

We scraped Moses Brown from the G league on a two way deal and let him walk for Zach's big return....somewhere there's another young guy who can walk on both feet looking for a shot...Giles is our guy for now...

one of the problems Portland is going to have in any trades is matching salaries. Having DJJ opt in and Zach will help to be able to balance trades with expiring contracts. If neither is on the roster, that leaves just Rioco and Nurk with those mid sized contracts. Neither of them are just filler so I would not want to include them as such. Having Zach at 7m will give the team more flexibility.
