Optimally i don't think Rooney is a guy you want to be pencilling in as a regular on a legit SC contender. Goodrow certainly wouldn't be out of water on a 3rd line but a stacked team probably has him more as a 4th liner. Maybe someone like Martinook is added down the line.

Rooney was good here last year. I agree though I see him more as a 4th liner. I talked about Kreider making the adjustment to being a 3rd line player as he's getting older. I'm sure Drury and Gallant are hoping for the jump from Kakko and Lafreniere this season. If Chytil makes a jump than a line of Goodrow-Chytil-Kreider can put up some points as a third line.

I don't think $3.6 for a guy with his name the Cup 2 times (that is always going to add value unless your agent sucks), led the Bolts in hits and actually shuts down opponents is too much at all Grevy.. I've been posting here for decades with the same mantra - team needs to be tougher so I was delighted with the Trouba signing and couldn't be happier with Goodrow, I'm more worried as a Rangers fan about Mika's contract than Barclay's, personally I would look to move him for Barkov or go back to the well and see if Tampa would deal Stamkos for Mika. I like Buch but understand that Drury needs to have cap room to resign all the youth, hopefully Strome is next. I think the Rangers can find a #2C among these #1 picks.

I would have kept Rooney over Howden too.

I am happy Goodrow is on the team too, he helps fill a glaring hole on the roster. But you can't tell me that a shut down forward making $3.6m/yr playing on the 3rd line and PK is not cause for concern but, paying one of the premier scoring Centers in the league is an issue. Finding a player with Mika's talent is not easy, acquiring a player like that from another team is even more difficult. I have been praying for the Panthers to trade away Barkov but if you have to move Mika to get him you are in the same position as you were before...a #1C with no #2 behind him. Aside from that, I have lost hope that Barkov is going to be made available.
The Rangers HAVE GOT TO EXTEND Mika and package their draft capital, expendable and likely even valuable roster player(s) and prospect depth to acquire another #1c or #2c. As you pointed out, the Rangers are going to be writing some hefty checks in a few short years so their window of opportunity and affordability is not going to open for very long.

Grevy, you can type your opinion in Caps, italics or pig latin, still isn't going to change the FACT that Mika is a soft chump against physical teams. Scoring all your points against teams that don't make the playoffs does nothing to help the Rangers postseason. I have never said Mika isn't talented, he's just not suited for this division and he's going to want a king's ransom come contract time.

Good luck getting to playoffs without his scoring.

Zibanejad and Panarin have been pathetic in big games. They sucked vs. the Canes in the playoffs. They sucked vs. the Islanders in big games down the stretch. However, was that Quinn? Was that the way the team was built around them? No toughess. No enforcer. Don't know. What I do know is if they play a normal schedule, you need their scoring to get into the playoffs and help develop Lafreniere and Kakko. The importance of having great third and 4th lines is so you can keep games tied or within one goal when your top 2 lines aren't doing jack shit in a game. Maybe the lower lines chip in some offense. Or at the least, hold the game withing striking distance.

HF which has by far the biggest retards in our fan base cracks me up. For starters, they talk like they are professional scouts over there and they don't know jack shit about evaluating talent just like the rest of us. I go by the real scouting reports. That's all we have until we watch a guy play a ton. The dickheads over there think every pro has to be great skater. This is how fucking stupid they are over there. Lemieux was one of the best skaters on our team. He was useless as tits on a bull because his brain was the size of a pea. Not only is Gauthier one of the best skaters on the team he's one of the elite skating big men in the game. The extreme majority of our fan base wanted to keep fucking Blackwell over him. Hajek is easily one of the best skaters on our team and is probably by far our best skating defenseman. Our fanbase has done but give him shit for 2 years. The kid they drafted like Cuylle is everything this teams forwards haven't been. The europussy days are over here. Thank God. The retards on HF are already picking on his skating. You can't make it up. As if skating is going to get you the puck in the corner vs a McDonagh, Hedman, Pelich, Pullock, Petry, Weber, Jones, etc....

Granted I believe our team need to get faster but you just can’t put out 12 forwards who skate fast and have no fucking clue what to do with it and are soft.

This paragraph is awesome in so many ways...LOL.

As for Drury, two things are clear to me so far - 1. Rebuild is over and he's going all in. 2. He will do whatever he has to do to add toughness to this team. That is his biggest focus, and he'll do it no matter what.

If the next move happens as we expect, adding a top C, I am all good. If that doesn't happen on the heels of the Buch trade, I won't be happy. We'll see what happens next.

There are some moronic contracts being handed out. Coleman 6 years 4.9 million. I guess Calgary doesn’t realize they suck and they’re not a threat to win a cup
