    oh hell no

A minimum contract for that guy would double in luxury tax payments. And I don't know if he'd be more valuable than this guy who is still on our books

I would hope Dame would be happier if they got a legit backup PG, (Either Niki or Exum) but, if that's what makes Dame happy, you do that everyday and go about your business...

    Okay. Back on track.

    13 rosters spots still

what does this do to our cap threshold? do we have anything to work with in the buyout market still?

I come here to read fan opinions and the continual Olshey-bashing gets old... especially when it drives so many posters' underlying theme in the majority of their posts. There are only a handful of what we would call a "blockbluster" trade in the NBA each year. Short of trading Lillard, we're not going to be a part of any "blockbuster" trade with the assets we currently have. The sooner everyone can temper their expectations to what's actually reality (both ours and other owners' inflated value of their trade assets), the more this board can become constructive IMO. I like the pieces we have and think the coaching change will be a greater gain than we think.

    Flame away...

You're missing a very key component between the two players. One can stay healthy. The other can not.

I’m not missing it. We didn’t trade CJ for him. The risk isn’t nearly as high.

our best hope for a real leap is having Nas/Ant breakout. Chauncey needs to forcefeed Nas minutes and a regular role. Let him sink or swim in the first half the season.

slightly more over the tax line than when we started. Still have the TPMLE. Still could benefit from a CJ for 2-lower-paid-players deal.

Quick is suggesting the blazers will bring in multiple vets on non guaranteed deals and let them fight it out for the last spot.

I still see value in throwing 5 mil at someone even if they don't deserve it (luxury tax be damned). It would be a great trade chip come deadline. Combining that with Powell's 15.5 mil deal brings you to 21 mil, which is enough salary to land someone like Draymond/Barnes/Grant/Sabonis, etc.

I want to keep Dame. That's the goal, correct?

You guys getting mad about perceived negativity seem to forget that we're not the only ones judging Neil right now. Dame reportedly hasn't been happy with our offseason so far. If Dame's not happy, I'm not happy. I can imagine that acquiring Nance will be a good step in the right direction for Dame, but do you really think this is what Dame had in mind? He said the roster wasn't good enough. The core of that roster is still intact.

Love the trade. Solid addition, improves depth and flexibility.

I dont like Neil, don't want to be on the side of defending him, but I feel like he can't win unless he moves cj for most here.
If he moves a non-lotto 1st for a solid piece, people will bitch about not having draft picks. If he doesn't make that move, he's doing nothing at all. I saw some on twitter saying how this move will make Dame made even. Like Dame care's about our 22 pick?!
