So powerful it was easy peazy to plan against and trap Dame.

ill add that i bet much of Stotts offense was carried by Dames offense.

If his nards were that big, it seems they were robbing his brain; those would be real negative moves.

i never said I dont value defense. I'm saying pinning all the blame and thinking moving a 30 million dollar player to the bench to play fewer minutes is flawed

Any move involving Dame would be negative from a fans standpoint.

I agree but I think Nance is a better player today than Nico is and I like Nico's game...Nico and ET did have similar games ..

Questionable even at this point, Nico had a great season for LAC last year, I would say that in a vacuum - they are about the same. LNJ is a better fit for Portland given that Powell is a part of the rotation now, you have 3 guys that can handle, create on the roster already, there is less need for Nico, and LNJ is mobile enough that he can move around just as well as Nico against most players. But, Nico is still a more effective scorer than LNJ which is never a great thing bigs - as they should have better scoring efficiency than smaller players.

I would say LNJ is better than Nico for this version of the Blazers. If the Blazers still had only 2 ball dominant guards, Nico would have been a better fit. Just my $0.02

We we're tied for 5th last season with only a partial season of Norm, C.J. and Nurkic missing significant time and with Stotts as our coach. Two teams above us were Denver (who will be without Murray) and the Clippers (who will be without Kawhi).

I think LAL passes us, but they have a ton of question marks and potential injury issues. Golden State will be solid but who knows how good Klay is coming off of two major injuries and Draymond isn't anywhere near as good as he used to be.

    I don't think it's a stretch at all.

    Tier 1: LAL/PHX
    Tier 2: POR/GSW/UTA
    Tier 3: DEN/DAL/LAC

I mostly agree with that, but Denver could be just as good even without Murray, MPJ is going to get better and he is not chopped liver.

You put us a tier above the team that beat us in a seven game series with three rotation players out including their second best player? The fun part is that we'll get to see and hopefully you're right but I do not think the coaching change and exchanging DJJ for Nance makes that kind of a jump likely.

    I think it's likely:

    Tier 1: LAL/PHX/UTA
    Tier 2: DEN/DAL
    Tier 3: GSW/POR/LAC

He is an upgrade but really not a fan of giving up first round picks. First round picks are literally our only hope of ever getting a star player in Portland, without the draft we have nothing, sure alot of them can be busts but I would rather take that chance than never have the chance of a start player at all.

You can always trade contracts for first round picks...now is Dame's prime...you don't wait for 3 years to develop another rookie..the draft is a crap shoot most of the time

We have a better roster than Denver. One more made play in Game 5 and we're up 3-2 and would've likely won the series. That was with Stotts as coach and with a horrific defensive frontcourt pairing off the bench in Melo+Kanter off the bench. Remember when those two would come in and Denver would immediately go on a run? The roster is better. We win that series with Billups as coach. There is a ton of room for growth defenisvely from a team that tied for 5th last year.

Also, we tied with Dallas last year. If anything, they might've gotten worse and downgraded their coach. I don't know how they end up a tier above us.
