Just to weigh in, I went to Oregon State. I root for both teams. I rooted for U of O before I was even college age though, so I lean that direction. I root for U of O when their teams play for the most part, but always root for OSU against anyone else. I want them both to be successful.

I do also kind of separate by sport though, based on relevance. In general, I would root for the Ducks over the Beavers in a head to head basketball or football game, because they have had a bit more national relevance over the past 2 decades. And a win could help them further the championship desires. With that said, I root for OSU over U of O in baseball. I want to see the Beavers make the World Series and win, like they did for the first time when I went to school there.

I must hang out with some die hard Beaver fans. They hate the Ducks and don’t want them winning any game, ever.

Nope. That's literally every Beavers fan I personally know. Some play "soft" about it, but they really do not like the ducks. I went to school there in the late 00's. I have had season tickets for close to a decade. Most of my coworkers that went to OSU hate the Ducks too.

My Oregon St friends all seemed happy with the Ducks win... though they can't wait to try and beat us again come November.

People know my disdain of football... im not a duck or beaver alum, and I was genuinely happy they got that win cause I know how massively they were underdogs... and to do that shit on the road without arguably their best player... at that point rivalry doesn't mean shit, that's impressive as fuck, no matter the team or sport.

I’ve been a Beavers fan since the darkest of the dark days……and when U of O wasn’t much better. I grew up when Ohio State, Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Penn St. and Texas dominated every year for literally decades and wished that our poor, shabby little programs could at least crack the Top 25 once in a blue moon. In the past 20 years, both schools have succeeded beyond my own wildest dreams and I am thrilled for them both. I root for them both without fail…….unless the Beavs play the Ducks. Then fuck the Ducks for the length of whatever game in whatever sport they are competing. Otherwise, Quack!

Oh God…..no matter how bad to mediocre both teams were, that was still a national embarrassment. God bless the Knights and the Resers for leading us out of the literal toilet……..

How many States under 4.5 million population have nationally ranked Div 1 football programs? Not to many.

I was lucky enough to be living in Alaska at the time. But for some fucked-up reason, that game was actually televised there so I sat and watched the whole sad story. Now, in those days, in Alaska, you didn't need an excuse to drink, but that game was taking things to the extreme...and yeah, I drank

as a lifelong Oregonian (mostly) and major Duck fan, I'd trade that ranking for 2 million less people in this state
