CLE gets rid of Love's contract and gets the hometown star in CJ.
DAL gets their guy in Dragic as has been rumored.
TOR gets a young guard with star potential for Siakam who fits their timeline, and two firsts as compensation for taking on Love's deal. Guessing more needs to go their way, but this is the framework. Thoughts?

    Dame / Simons
    Powell / ?
    Roco / Nas
    Siakam / Nance
    Nurk / Zeller

My thought is that getting Siakam for CJ and a first would be fantastic. I don't know if this is the way to do it but I can't come up with a better one right now.

As always the limitation is finding teams that would want CJ. Cleveland seems like a reasonable destination. They invested a ton of $ on bigs and appear to want to take a bigger step. They also have resisted extending Sexton even if the dude put up 24 ppg last year.

Maybe CLE would resist this? Depends on how much they want Love gone.

Siakam is arguably the player with the best fit with the Blazers. He doesn't have the upside that Simmons has, but he fits in the best. I would love either for CJ and change.

Yeah, I thought Cleveland was a good idea. I just don't know how receptive the Raptors will be. By going out and getting Dragic they are kind of saying that they aren't rebuilding but sticking with a team that is part young guys and part vets. They're hard to judge. I suspect if they start out the season winning a lot they won't be looking for a move like this but if they are losing like they did last season, they might just want to shake things up like this move does.

Hey nice try. I get why Portland does that, but why would the Raptors. Other than if Siakam is a pain in the kazoo, and they want him gone.

Even if Ujiri insists otherwise, i think the writing is on the wall for Pascal after they drafted Barnes and paid Anunoby last year. They also traded for Achiuwa, hard capped themselves with Birch and still have Boucher as their big men.

They seem to be ripe for a rebuild and are forward heavy while they have only Dragic and Van Vleet as their lead guards. Dragic has made noise about wanting a buyout/trade. Sexton makes sense for them.

He's 22 and averaged 24/4/3 last year on great efficiency but CLE has been rumored to get rid of him.

Think this lineup is great for the future:

Sexton/Van Vleet/ Anunoby/Barnes/Boucher with Trent off the bench.

Or unless they are going for a retool/rebuild and Siakam doesn't fit due to salary and age. (just guessing)

Heard on one podcast Gary Trent Jr could be the wildcard in what direction they go. If he is playing like a good starter, then with FVV Siakam and their vets all the sudden its a competitive team. But if GTJ disappoints and they have losses they might decide to explore trades, tank the season, and rebuild.

I'd think there could be a few teams like this with an allstar level player that they put on the market if the team struggles after a few months of the season.

on the heels of the news of Draymond and Rui being exempt from Media Day due to "excused" absences today as well as the Beal drama. (And yes, I know SF is more restrictive for unvaccinated athletes)

Thats why I think Philly could wait to trade Simmons.

I would just much much rather pony up an extra first if that's what it took and get Simmons for ourselves because I'm pretty sure two firsts are worth the same as Moses Moody.

as would i, but more and more, I feel like the Blazers are out on Simmons. Dame was dropping Green's name multiple times yet again in his PC today. I don't like the idea of swapping CJ for Draymond, hence the Rui addition.

Dray is spent and as a second option is terrible. I don't care how cool him and Dame are, if the team is even thinking about a Draymond Green type of player they should still be in on Simmons.

4 teams and we get the 3rd or 4th best player? Hard pass. By the end of his current deal, Green may not even be that. IMHO he is aging poorly and could easily fall off a cliff in the next couple of seasons.

Don't love it, but I could live with that. CJ + RoCo is too damn much.
