Ford trucks are built right. I had an '01 Sporttrac that made it over 200k miles. The A/C went out while I was in Florida so I finally upgraded.
It was a pretty good show. Back in the day, I knew of a doctor in Lake Oswego who owned a Mustang station wagon. I even saw it. Heard of one of those?
No, I haven't. I would not have believed there was a Mercedes SUV or a Porsche SUV or a BMW SUV until I saw them on the road. Have you heard of a Mercedes station wagon? I've seen one.
They just got back to me and told me I need a new clutch too, which isn’t covered under warranty. I haven’t sold a car before, and this one needs $3600 to be repaired/pass DEQ next year (needs a new catalytic converter too). Now I’m feeling like getting a new car is the best option. Wondering how/where to sell this thing; has anyone ever sold a car that needs work done? Is my best option to sell it to a junk car buyer? If any of you have experience with a situation like this please let me know!
no. the only reason to sell a car to a junk car buyer is if your car is junk. Iirc, you just had things wrong with it that you can't justify the cost, right? I.e., "I ain't spending 5K to fix this 4K car" sorta deal. You could sell it to someone, who would be willing to buy it and fix it and sell it themselves. You could see what you could get for it from a junker, see what they're going for on craigslist/facebook, and find a # you are happy with, make a transparent ad and try selling it. I'm sure some "mechanic" type would buy it and sell it. You said it's a 15, right?
I donated my car to a junk buyer (1-800 kars for kids) because I lost my title and was too lazy to get a new one or sell my car. Was just tired of having it around, and they were easy AF.
No Should be fairly good. Yes, but first gear is shot - that’s why the clutch needs to be replaced. But it’s got second/3rd/etc
Yeah it’s a 15 which usually might sound good because it’s “newer”. But it’s a 15 POS Focus. Which the 15 focus has pretty bad value.
In that case, I think it depends on what your conscience says. If you feel better, just call up pick-n-pull, and sell it to them. Also, maybe call your insurance and see if you can get the car 'totaled' (I dont know if it's possible outside of an accident, I dont know). Also could talk to them about lemon law issues? I dont know.
Take it to a dealership and trade it in on a new or newer car. They'll give you better value for it than if you sold it on your own.
