He probably is a grandpa. The city of Corvallis vs. the student body of OSU I imagine differs when looking at liberal vs. conservative and I wouldn't be surprised if OSU leans more conservative than UofO. I attended Oregon State as recently as 2016 and have friends that were active Young Republicans that also went there. Who knows, most young people or more liberal than the opposite so I'm sure it is still majority dem enrolled in any college these days. Who cares. All I know is that the Beavers could have Osama on their squad and I'd probably still root for the ducks to lose.
Yes sir...71 year old granddad I was at the game in Corvallis in 1967 when beavs beat OJ 3-0. There weren't to many hippies around campus then, more FFA members than hippies.
The schedule actually sets up pretty nicely for OSU if they can get past UW this weekend. I don't really see a loss until ASU/Oregon to end the season, though knowing college football there is an L in there somewhere. Still an 8-4 (maybe 9-3) season is very much in play for OSU.
After I typed that up, I looked at the Beavs record by season and YIKES ... I knew it wasn't pretty but it's been rough recently. Looks like the Beavs and my Cougs have switched places!
Oh, Oregon State was plenty political as far back as I went there in the early 70s. We jumped at the chance to join OSPIRG, Oregon Public Interest Research Group. OSU, Corvallis and Benton County have been leaning Democratic for a long time now.
Since 2012 season where we were ranked as high as at least #7. That team could’ve gone to the rose bowl if mike Riley had handled that QB controversy better
