    This is too regressive, IMO.

The benefits to no income tax for athletes is the added value that being more competitive in sports would bring us.

A more consistently successful team could lead to a more profitable stadium area and more national exposure for the city and state.

    It should pay for itself.

A sales tax just shifts the tax burden to the poor and middle class.

A lot of people don't understand taxes. The poor and middle class spend more of their actual income than the rich.

Here in Colorado, we have state tax(though smaller %), and Sales Tax. I'm spending a lot more on Food, Pet Food, Toiletries, you name it. On top of that, Rent is higher here. So even though i couldn't afford to live on my own in Springfield, and i'm making more money here, i'm still struggling to make ends meet. It's never ending when you're on the lower earning scale. Wealthy people don't get lower earners struggles to survive. 57 and i'll retire when i'm dead.

The Blazers, Broncos, & Rockies are my vacations from reality. Thank God I have them. Even though they aren't all playing great, they still give me an escape from real world B.S.

a friend of mine just move to Denver (well, the outskirts of Denver) and part of the reason was that he said it was going to be cheaper for him to live there than where he lived in Portland. I'm interested in seeing how true that ends up being, if at all.

This is OT, so I apologize in advance, but.......
It drives me crazy that republican voters actually think they don't like taxes, but when republican politicians get a chance, they print money like mad - which is the same as a flat tax.

He better be WAYYYY out of Denver to find cheaper housing. Plus to register his vehicle, he will go from 4 years (mine was 40.00 in Oregon), to a % of his vehicle's value for 1 years tags. If his vehicle is around 20,000 he will pay around 600.00 for 1 year's tags. My dog food was 22.00 a week there, 24+ here. Car insurance 125 there, 151, lesser coverage ,here. He's gonna get a wake up call.

That is so sad. Colorado is such an amazing state but there's no way to live there affordable.

It's why the Midwest is rising in population. Its the only affordable place left lol.

how do they figure the value? he owns old cars (like late 60's old).

People like to hard on Portland for a lot of things (housing is out of control..but it's also out of control other places), but I think it's a lot of the "grass is greener" mentality.

Older cars are obviously cheaper to tag. I don't know how they figure expensive Classics though.

They have them. I have visited a few, but never participated. Being a fan is already brutal enough, I can't imagine what their boards look like.

Every time some stupid fan on twitter says they'd 'gladly trade the Blazers for the Mariners', and it's followed by 'I'm a blazers fan too!', it's like they really don't know much about the history of the Mariners.
