Awful for Sixers. Why do they do this? Wall is an injury waiting to happen and hasn't been relevant for years.

I dont think they can actually get much better in a return. Sexton was great last yr. 24 ppg on great efficiency

I don't think you give up 3 1sts and 3 swaps but I'm perfectly fine if this franchise FINALLY wants to take a swing for the fences instead of the singles and doubles that Olshey is known for. Yes it's a gamble that could backfire but that's part of taking a risk. I'm so over the same season, over and over and over again. Yes we have a new coach but the players are largely the same and I'm expecting a pretty similar result, 5th to 9th seed, get bounced in the first round.

Bucks gave up 2 picks and 2 swaps plus salary filler for Holiday. Thats the template... Sorta. But holiday was their final piece. Not entirely certain Simmons is that for us.

I am very skeptical about our bench.

    Today's lesson:
AFFECT is either the verb to which effect is the noun "he was affected" = "it had an effect on him"
OR a noun meaning emotional display, as in "Mark Zuckerberg is very low affect."
(Also: "effect" can be a verb, meaning "bring about" as in "Trump tried to effect a coup")

    Tomorrow's lesson: disinterested vs. uninterested

    Advanced lesson: jealous vs. envious.

If Wall gets traded I will eat my hat. If Wall gets traded to a team that doesn't currently have an albatross contract on its books I will eat my entire outfit.

I agree. Get him in here and make sure things are set up to maximize his value as much as possible. Worst case you have to rebuild and you have Dame AND Simmons to trade for a rebuild. You should be able to get a hell of a return by moving those two guys if. That is, if you can recoup Simmons' image.

But the main thing is, you have drastically improved the talent on this team. Possibly enough for a title.

I think the Sacramento Kings are still most likely to end up with Simmons just because of how good I think Davion Mitchell is going to be. He will either cause them to be ready to give up Morey's required price of one of Halliburton or (my choice) Fox, or Morey will be happy to get him. I think Mitchell is going to be the next Jimmy Butler type - turns himself into a great player by sheer force of will.

The Kings would be my guess too. They have the right kind of talented but not superstar pieces that make sense in return for a flawed star like Simmons, they (like Portland) can't really expect to land a marquee name in free agency so might be more willing to try to trade for one and if they end up trading Fox, they're not tied to a lead ball-handler or dominant post player that would prevent Simmons from operating to his strengths.

i think wall gets traded, albeit later in the year.

come to think of it, i can probably remove houston altogether from that deal.

I'd give them CJ, two picks and swaps right now, if the idea was to install Simmons in a Giannis/Dray hybrid role on offense and have him be our defensive stopper. I actually don't see Nas getting much time if Ben, RoCo and Nance are here so I would try to make it CJ, Nas, one first rounder and two swaps... I think that is a great counter offer and makes us far more relevant than we currently are... especially watching Nurk knock down those threes in our first exhibition game.

I think the Shams report of Morey offering Simmons for a CJ package means it's only a matter of time before we land Simmons for CJ+ if Olshey is actually willing to part with CJ to make our team better.

But we're also giving up a valuable player in CJ. Bucks gave up what, Bledsoe and hill? Which I think shifts the value back to maybe a pick and 2 swaps?

That’s exactly the thing. Pushing your chips all in for Jrue because you know/believe he’s the final piece is great. If Portland gets Simmons and loses whoever they give up, they are not closer to winning a championship. They would need somehow to make another move or two - with less assets.
