So let me get this straight. The Wizards are “good” and the Lakers “suck”. Ok…..

People in here act like they have every piece of information that has gone into this broken relationship between Simmons and the team. We don't know how hard Doc has been on him in games and in practice. We can assume that he's had to hear a lot of offensive shit out of Embiid's mouth. We know one of if not his main issue is that he feels he's being misused. The fact is we just don't know how good or bad it's been for Simmons.

We know that neither Doc or Embiid were supporting him at the end of the season and that can't do anything but damage. We know that for the second straight off season the team was trying to move him but didn't like the offers they were getting. We know that Simmons no longer wants to be there.

Be careful talking about corporate America around here. Some people that haven't experienced it refuse to believe it doesn't make any logical sense more often than not.

Kawhi was already a champion and a Finals MVP. Simmons ain’t Kawhi.

If he did it to one team, he will do it to the next team. If he blames everybody else for his problems then he won't suddenly start being responsible. This was his (last?) chance to prove he is an honest man. Either quit and give up the money, or put in an honest effort to earn it. He is just a spoiled, entitled little shit who want it both ways, doesn't care about anybody else, and apparently has zero conscience.

Because if you or I don't show up for work, we don't expect to get paid! And BTW, the team only "wants to get rid" of him because HE demanded it.

We know he accepted a mega-extension from the 6ers. If he was unhappy - legit or not - he could have hit the FA market and played for whatever team he wanted. His supposed grievances must not have been that important to him.

please don’t take this the wrong way, and anyone who “liked” this, to each their own, but this makes me cringe. This goes against everything I ever learned in competitive sports. Doc might be hard on him? Joel didn’t support him enough? What is this, a grade school beauty pageant? Docs been coaching forever. I’ve never heard about him being hard on a player and if he was too fucking bad this is professional basketball. This whole thing makes Simmons look like a gigantic baby. It’s legit embarrassing.

it is embarrassing. The 76ers did nothing to be shat on like this by him. They haven’t traded him yet? So what? Doc said “I don’t know how to answer that” when asked if Simmons can play PG on a championship team? So what? Neither justifies his behavior. Guy is literally crying about being on a team that’s actually too good because it hurt his development. Like what? He’d rather be the main man on a shitty team than actually win. How is that not a huge red flag? Selfish ingrate child.

He signed that before Doc was the coach... that's really all that needs to be said. People in here are making huge assumptions. He could be a prima donna, I don't know but he just as easily could have legitimate complaints and just wants out and is being advised to play hardball. Just because he's doing that in this situation doesn't mean he ever will again... he hung with that franchise for five years, so it's not a pattern of behavior.

I am so torn on this, I hate prima Donna’s and he sure comes across like one. That said talent wins and right now we are stuck in middle of the pack with no sign of making a jump. I’d probably still take chance and just pray that Dame and Billups can help this guy realize he’s pissing his career away.

simmons instantly does two things makes us better defensively but also makes incredible difference with passing and creating open looks for teammates. He has Jason Kidd and Nash affect in they make the game easier for their teammates and guys end up having career offensive years when they play with guys like him.

Doc has been known to be a difficult coach and this isn't grade school, Simmons is a grown man and if he's being singled out and not supported, he can demand a trade and if he wants to lose the money he can hold out. This is all his prerogative. Everything you know about sports is amateur and this is professional so it gets a little less team spirit and a little more business sometimes. If you're on the side of the league and the owners that they get to trade guys when they want but the players should have no control, then that's where our disagreement is. I think players should have and do have the tools to handle situations like this. Simmons could be handling this differently but he has one of the highest powered agents in the game advising him.

Just go ahead and keep passing absolute judgment on a person with very little information about his situation. That's always a really great way to develop an opinion.

No offense, but part of the problem with your POV is that you see this strictly in terms of player v management. You're forgetting who is always the big loser in these disputes: the fans.

In my book, Morey, Paul, and Simmons are all dirtbags and I am rooting for an outcome where they all wind up gargling raw sewage.

This is all so backwards I don’t know where to start. “This ain’t amateur it’s professional” - Yes. And he’s being a pro? Just fwiw I’ve worked in both college and pro basketball so no, my experience isn’t all amateur. There’s nothing wrong with that either but I tried to be respectful and you keep getting a little testy so carry on.
