What does this mean? Last year, it seemed like we could never beat a WC playoff team. We certainly didn’t win in dominating fashion. Do we stand pat? Is this Billups’ doing? I’m impressed.
It means... Billups >> Stotts Nance, Zeller >> Melo, Kanter A team with the Lillard/CJ backcourt can be a top defensive team. Instead of cringing when the starters go out, I feel warm inside because Ant and Nas are growing up before our eyes. We don't need to trade CJ for Ben Simmons, and maybe shouldn't. Olshey had a fantastic offseason. It's still early and we blazer fans are an excitable lot. #dropmic edit: Forgot one - Powell isn't too small. Sill thinking about him blocking a zubac dunk attempt
I think it means it's five games into the season and we're not hopeless... and that's all that it means.
It's good to stay tempered. We appear to be a bunch better team than last year but its still very early. It is okay to get a little excited though.
It means arbitrarily there's still 25 games left to really see who this team is. Because you can beat a WC playoff team 3 times and still lose a 2nd round playoff series, so really it means nothing.
Defense is active at this stage of the season but the question is can they like this the rest of the year when players get ding up and and the bodies get tired. Right now Billups is not putting a lot of minutes on Dame or CJ because players like Simons and Little and others coming in either keeping the lead the same or increasing the lead.
Your last sentence is what explains why its sustainable. The stars arent being leaned on heavily to win. They wont be dinged up later. (Knocks on wood!)
I've been one that doesn't get the extreme Neil bashing by some, the love for Simmons and the dire need to trade C.J. for him, the thought of giving Billups a chance to change this team can and may make a big difference... It's been great to see they are playing lately, you see some progress and you see some improvements on defense, but I think it's still too early. It's a long 82 game season, but this early in the season you can take some positives. Wait till the games start to matter more, we play some of the top dogs in the league and etc. Can't get too high and too low in a long 82 game season. You see the extreme opinion of some posters after a bad loss or a big win, but I think it's still a work in progress. Way to early to say we are a great defensive team, but things are definitely looking in the right direction so far.
Nah bro. It means- They got beat by the Kings at home who are probably a middle of the road possible playoff lower seed team. It means they beat a really good team that had played in LA the night before on a B2B with two days rest. "Suns" Then they absolutely got their asses handed to them by the Clippers who are without their best player and two solid rotational players. Then they played a solid game against a good team which showed promise last year. The Grizz Then they actually showed up against the Clippers at home and beat a team missing it's best player and two solid rotational players. It means they are 3-2 heading out on the road for three games First up a 4-2 Hornets team that is playing really well and will be a tough game. They have beat the Pacers, Nets, Cavs and Magic. Three of their wins are on the road. Then the 76'ers who are also 3-2 and have been in some good games. Could very easily be 4-1. Then they play the Cavs who are 3-3 and have a good group and have beat the Hawks, Nuggets and Clippers. This is 3 games in 4 nights and the Philly game is the second of a B2B. If the Blazers can go 1-2 on this trip it will be a respectable run and they will return home 4-4 or a .500 team. Sure would like to see 2-1 but lets be honest. So far the Blazers have played only one road game thus far and it didn't go well at all.
Watch how they respond on the road. Blazers have been playing at home for the most part. Typically your bench or rotational players do not play nearly as well on the road. Lillard is struggling thus far.
Absolutely. But on the other hand.... Our preseason was a dumpster fire, and just 5 games into the season we're toying with playoff teams. Imagine how good we can be by midseason when we've had chances to really develop our defense.
