Let's assume that Morey just hates CJ and will never trade Simmons for him. What are some other possibilities? I just went to the trade machine and literally could not talk myself into ANY trade.

ORLANDO: Cole Anthony has exploded, and they're keeping Suggs, so unless Gary Harris and Markelle Fultz light your fire...
DENVER: could use shooting now MPJ is out for a while, but they have committed HUGE money to their core, and, while I'd love Will the Thrill back, I can't make contracts line up
CLEVELAND: Kevin Love + Colin Sexton? Bleh.
MEMPHIS: they're terrible defensively and already have a ton of small guards

?? Actual working trade suggestions, please.

Just off the top of my head, I can see the Raps moving Siakam to clear the decks for the younger guys.

Edit: nevermind. Why would they want CJ?

CJ to Toronto, Siakim to Philadelphia, Simmons to Portland.

Tho hollinger says it gives them 2 fewer wins. So, clearly that's a no go when St John says that.

If Toronto is trading siakam because they want a youth movement, a 30-year old CJ is not going to appeal to them.

Why would the want a youth movement? They have 1 player with more than 5 years of experience, and he barely plays.

A better reason why they wouldn't want him is that they have Trent already.

I don't see why Toronto does that.

Not saying I like it much, but it is VAGUELY plausible (assuming the Pacers think that their 24-year-old rookie isn't going to improve in the same way as if he was 19):

Or (and this one breaks my rule):

Not really plausible, but I could certainly get behind it!

Bleacher report floated this idea the other day:

    1. Dallas Mavericks receive: CJ McCollum

Portland Trail Blazers receive: Tim Hardaway Jr, Reggie Bullock and future first-round pick

Both the Mavericks and Trail Blazers reside in the same tier of teams who aren't contenders but could become ones if everything breaks just right. With Portland off to a slow start and Dallas in danger of massive regression (a solid 7-4 but only 21st in net efficiency), the teams might have to look outside their locker rooms for the pieces that can push them over the top.

The Mavs need another shot-creator to liven up their 23rd-ranked offense and ease the burden shouldered by Luka Doncic (league-leading 35.2usage percentage). CJ McCollum could be perfect. He can steer an offensive attack with slippery scoring moves and capable table-setting, while his lethal long-range shooting makes him an easy fit with a more ball-dominant star.

Put him in the same offense as Luka Doncic, and Dallas could keep constant pressure on opposing defenses. That would also bump Kristaps Porzingis down to the third option, which if he bought into the setup, could allow him to focus more energy on defense and make him more efficient on offense by virtue of being more selective.

The Blazers, meanwhile, might be better off flipping McCollum for size, defense and depth on the wings, plus the incoming first-rounder could be re-invested in the trade market to help attack another need.

Tim Hardaway Jr. would give Damian Lillard a bigger, more athletic backcourt partner who still splashes three-balls frequently and efficiently. Reggie Bullock would answer a longstanding need for a three-and-D wing in Portland, and the Blazers could perhaps better balance their roster by starting him and bringing 6'3" Norman Powell off the bench to be their ignitable sixth man.

I would do that deal. I heard on the radio a while back that Dallas Portland trade involving CJ & Porzingas made since. A shot creater and ball handler a 4/5 thats taller than 6’7

    Hello darkness, my old friend
If New York is a big fan of CJ, this seems at least plausible. Perhaps Siakam's value has dropped a bit with his three-point shooting percentage.

SAC: CJ McCollum and Robert Covington for Buddy Hield, Marvin Bagley, and Damion Jones.

MIN: CJ McCollum, Robert Covington, 1st, for Karl Anthony Towns and Taurean Prince

GSW: CJ McCollum and a 1st for Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga

NOP: CJ McCollum for Brandon Ingram

WAS: CJ McCollum and Robert Covington for Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma. (Or KCP)

IND: CJ McCollum, Robert Covington, and two 1sts for Domantas Sabonis, Caris Lavert, and Chris Duarte. (Could also add Jusuf in and take out a first and IND would throw in TJ Warren)

CLE: CJ McCollum and Robert Covington for Kevin Love, Isaac Okoro, and Darius Garland.

sorry CC, I think you're significantly overrating CJ's value except for maybe the Cleveland and Kings trades

Just thinking out loud: Dallas could really use a better 2nd option and CJ would fill that (limited) bill. What would they offer that we would want?

since RoCo doesn't have much value in a trade like that, why wouldn't the Knicks cut out Portland and keep Siakam for themselves? It's basically their assets buying Siakam

dunno what we could get from memphis that makes sense, but id love us to try sign Brandon Clarke somehow. (still)

are there options with ATL ? they have a good group of young guys.

Gallinari n Reddish would probably be close for CJ
