What was the differential when we had Aminu and Harkless?

You have presented the need for swish3 defense well, and I agree that the Blazers can be a lot better in guarding and degrading the swish3 shooting of opponents. Blazers need to play team defense, be determined, communicate strongly (which will help significantly with team defense), make switches energetically and with BBIQ, and box out consistently and with energy. The new defense scheme is improving, and needs to become more consistent.

Under coaching by Chauncey, Scott, Roy, and Steve, the Blazers can become a much better defense powering offense team and get the scoring differentials back to a winning level. Let's keep working hard and keep progressing. Let's see Blazers with 39% vs opponents <37% swish3 stats. Go Blazers!

The Blazers won the swish3 battle scoring 11 of 36 vs the Rockets 7 of 32 in the 112 - 92 win Nov 12. Dame, Nurk, and Nas had a good game with some memorable plays. The defense is progressing and becoming more consistent. Enough energy was there for the win. Dame had 7 assists and CJ had 5 of the total of 21 assists. Nurk scored 10 of 10 FT and seemed to shoot them more carefully. Yah!

Dame led scoring 4 of 9, Simons scored 2 of 6, Roco scored 2 of 7, Tony scored 1 of 2, and CJ and Nas each scored 1 of 4. Norm and Larry were each 0 of 2. The 11 swish3s were enough to beat the cold swish3 shooting Rockets, but Blazers will need 18+ to beat the Nuggets Sun. Go Blazers!

The Blazers decisively lost the swish3 battle scoring 13 of 39 vs the Nuggets 19 of 40 in the Nov 14 blowout loss 95-124. The Blazers played poorly without energy, without defense, and started just 1 of 10 FG in a season low performance. Dame was rested for this game, replaced by Simons who started the game with a number of misses and mistakes that got the Blazers behind 18-33 by the end of Q1.

CJ led scoring 5 of 10, Nas scored 3 of 8, Ben scored 2 of 4, Norm scored 1 of 3, Roco scored 1 of 4, and Simons scored 1 of 5. Larry and Elleby were each 0 of 1 and Nurk was 0 of 2.

The lack of energy is reflected in the Blazers losing the rebound contest 36-49! Nurk had a bad night with only 4 pts and 6 rebounds in 21 min. Nurk and Cody were both outplayed and pushed around by Jokic. The Blazers need much more energy for a chance to win. For the Raptors tomorrow and subsequent 3 home games. let's hope for the energy and consistency (with determined defense) that leads to 18+ swish3s and wins!

The Blazers won the swish3 battle scoring 16 of 36 vs the Raptors 15 of 33 in the Nov 15 win 118-113. This was a good game for CJ, Dame, and Larry. After a slow start in Q1, the Blazers took the lead at the end of Q2 and never let up. Blazer swish3 % by Q were 33, 71, 33, and 50. Raptors swish3 % by Q were 54, 44, 25, and 43.

CJ led scoring 6 of 11, Roco scored 3 of 5, Dame scored 3 of 6, Simons scored 2 of 4, Larry scored 1 of 1, and Nas scored 1 of 4. Tony was 0 of 1 and Norm was 0 of 4.

The Dame and CJ combination was strong, with 53 pts and 14 assists. CJ had a terrific 4th Q block. Consecutive swish3s by CJ and Dame late in Q4 iced the game. Several fouls of Dame, CJ, and Norm that were not called should have been if the refs had been consistent, so the win margin could have been 10+. The defense is progressing as is the team synchronicity in offensive plays and team defense. This win over a talented Raptors team gives hope for steady improvement on the way to 51 wins. Let's score 18+ swish3s and beat the Bulls!

After re-watching Q4 of the Raptors game, I am impressed by the defensive play and energy evident for both Dame and CJ. The team that closed the game included Norm, Nas, and Larry for the first time, and was a notable success! Dame fighting to get that ball back at 4:12 was outstanding!

Both swish3 scoring and swish3 defense were improved with this combination. The coaching and the energy level were good enough to win in playoff level games. Let's see the Blazers continue to bring the kind of high energy that Dame and CJ brought to this game and develop going forward.

The Blazers are capable of game winning defense!

The Blazers lost the swish3 battle scoring 11 of 31 vs the Bulls 13 of 29 in the 112-107 win Nov 17. The 2nd half Blazers held the Bulls to 44 pts in contrast to a 63 pt 1st half, continuing to exert late game energy that they found in the Toronto win on Mon. This was a good game for Larry and Nurk, who combined for 34 pts, 21 rebounds, and 6 assists at C. Nurk played 22 min which might be optimum. Dame led Blazer scoring with 22 pts, 10 assists, and a noteworthy block.

Dame led scoring 3 of 9, Norm scored 2 of 2, Larry scored 2 of 3, Roco scored 2 of 5, Tony scored 1 of 2, and CJ scored 1 of 5. Simons was 0 of 1 and Nas was 0 of 4. Chauncey and his team deserve an A for coaching in this game.

This win over the 10-4 Bulls shows that the Blazers are capable of game winning defense when the energy is high. And the Blazers are progressing in team offense, team defense, and closing out games. Let's continue to bring improvements, home court defense, and energy and beat the 76ers Sat!

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 15 of 34 vs the 76ers 10 of 28 in the 118-111 win Nov 20. Dame is returning to his All Star form as he led all FG scoring with 39 pts, 7 assists, and 2 blocks in 37 min. This was a good game for all 5 starters and for Nas, Simons, and Larry. There was evidence of improving team defense and offense in this win over another strong team, even though it lacked Joel Embiid.

Dame led scoring 5 of 13, CJ scored 4 of 9, Roco scored 2 of 3, Norm and Nurk each scored 1 of 1, Nas scored 1 of 2, and Simons scored 1 of 4. Tony was 0 of 1.

With the development of Blazer teamwork and the increasing energy that has developed in the last 3 games, the Blazers seem ready to prove superior to Denver with a win on Tues! Now that the team is above 50% wins, let's stay there and progress. We can hope for 5+ swish3s from Dame each game, and 18+ swish3s for the team from game 18 forward through the schedule.

The Blazers tied the swish3 contest scoring 15 of 39 vs the Nuggets 15 of 33 in the win 119-100 on Nov 23. This was a good game for Dame and CJ, who combined for 57 pts, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Dame and CJ led scoring 5 of 8 and 5 of 9 swish3s respectively, Simons scored 2 of 5, Nas scored 1 of 3, Roco scored 1 of 4, and Norm scored 1 of 5. Larry and Dennis were each 0 of 1 and Tony was 0 of 3.

It is confidence-building to see the return of potent backcourt scoring and to see the 2nd Q and 4th Q energetic defense that leads to wins. Although only 15 swish3s were sufficient to win this game by 19, it will be important to target 18 swish3s tomorrow against the Kings, and Fri vs the Warriors.

The Blazers again tied the swish3 contest scoring 12 of 38 vs. the Kings 12 of 33 in the 121-125 loss Nov 24 in Sacramento. This was a good game for Dame who scored a game-high 32 pts and had 10 assists and 6 rebounds in 39 min. Nurk scored a season high 28 pts with 17 rebounds and 5 assists in 31 min. Defensive intensity was missing in the disappointing 2nd half after leading 71-69 in the 1st half. The refs affected the 2nd half with calls favoring the Kings effectively and changing the game rhythm enough to give the Kings the win. The Blazers are now 1-8 on the road.

Norm led scoring 5 of 10, Dame scored 3 of 12, Nas scored 2 of 3, Larry scored 1 of 4, and CJ scored 1 of 6. Dennis was 0 of 1 and Nurk was 0 of 2. The 12 swish3s were 6 fewer than the 18 target, and will not be enough against the Warriors who are averaging 15+.

To win on the road, the Blazers need to bring stronger, more consistent energy, constant chatter team defense, and 4th Q attack mode that beats the home team. Let's imagine that combination for the next 2 games!

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 13 of 38 vs the Warriors 12 of 37 in the Nov 26 loss 103-118 in San Francisco. This game was a poor performance with terrible defense, poor shooting, and 11 less rebounds than the Warriors. Dame and CJ were each limited to 16 pts from a combined 32 FGA, and they totaled only 10 assists. The refs exaggerated the loss, with no-calls that brought objections that resulted in technical fouls called on Dame and Scot Brooks, who was ejected from the game. Norm was injured in the 4th Q and didn't return to the game.

Simons led scoring 5 of 10, CJ scored 3 of 6, Dame scored 2 of 7, Norm scored 1 of 1, Larry scored 1 of 2, and Roco scored 1 of 7. Tony was 0 of 1, and Nas and Nurk were each 0 of 2.

As expected, the poor shooting, far from the 18 swish3 target, and the poor defense, allowing an obnoxious number of Warrior layups and other points in the paint, led to a game that was dominated by the Warriors from the 2nd Q to the end. The Blazers must learn to bring energy to the road games!

Let's get the energy level and the defense intensity up to a much higher level and look for a win over the Utah Jazz on Mon!

The Blazers badly lost the swish3 contest scoring 11 of 31 vs the Jazz 19 of 46 in the Nov 29 loss 107-129. The 3rd Q Jazz season high 41 pts were scored on swish3s and layups mostly by Ingles and Mitchell. Norm was out injured. Nurk and Simons each scored 24 pts. Defense was spotty,

Simons led scoring 4 of 7, CJ and Tony each scored 2 of 5, Nurk scored 1 of 1, and Dame and Nas each scored 1 of 4. Dennis, Larry, and Elleby were each 0 of 1, and Roco was 0 of 2. This is far short of the 18+ swish3s needed to win against the hot swish3 shooting Jazz.

There was a lack of defensive energy and chatter in the 2nd half that allowed the 4 pt half time deficit to reach 22 points. The Blazers need further improvement on consistent, determined, high chatter defense, and need to find it in road games. This game was blanked out, as Program Unavailable on Fubo from the end of the 1st Q until the replay of the game later on, which as also frustrating.

For the Pistons game tomorrow, let's imagine the Blazers bringing energy throughout the game, active chatter, drives to the basket, and 18+ swish3s scored to keep the wins piling up on our home court!

The Blazers won the swish3 contest scoring 14 of 42 vs 9 of 35 for the Detroit Pistons in the 110-92 win Nov 30, without Dame, Norm, or Nas who did not dress due to injuries. The game was a good showing with energy and improving defense, and was good for Nurk 17 pts and Ben 13 pts.

Ben led scording 4 of 9, CJ scored 4 of 11, Tony scored 2 of 5, and Roco and Simons each scored 2 of 6. Larry and Elleby were each 0 for 1, and Dennis was 0 for 3. Ben was in for only 18 min, and scored 8 pts in the first 4 min of PT! I think Ben should be in the rotation.

The Blazers allowed the Pistons only 17 pts in the 3rd Q and the 92 pts was the 2nd lowest pts allowed in this season. The defense showed energy and good chatter that allowed effective team defense. Let's imagine consistent energetic determined defense that can be learned in home games and taken on the road for a much improved win record in the next 15 games. And let's beat the Spurs on Thurs!

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest scoring 12 of 34 vs the San Antonio Spurs 14 of 36 in the Dec 2 blowout loss 83-114, a game without Dame or Nas and with Simons injured and out in the 2nd Q. The Blazers played with a lack of defense allowing swish3s, layups, and easy shots showing spotty and poorly coordinated team effort. The game was unpleasant to watch.

Ben led scoring 3 of 8, Roco scored 2 of 4, Norm scored 2 of 5, CJ scored 2 of 6, Elleby scored 1 of 1, Blevins scored 1 of 2, and Dennis scored 1 of 3. Tony was 0 of 1, and Simons and Larry were each 0 of 2. The Spurs outrebounded the Blazers 48-41 and had 32 vs 19 assists.

This was a down game that snapped the 10 game home winning streak. Let's imagine the Blazers coming to play with energy on Sat to beat the Celtics and get another long home winning streak started!

The Blazers emphatically lost the swish3 contest scoring 8 of 29 vs the Boston Celtics 21 of 37 in the Dec 4 blowout loss 117-145. The 145 is the most points ever scored on the Blazers home court in regulation time, and one of the highest scores in NBA history in reg time! This game was without Dame, Nas, and Simons, who were out with injuries, but the opponent scoring average increases to 111.7 which ranks 23 of 30. The Celtic beating was a painful embarrassment that was painful to watch. Many missed Blazer layups and open shots and too many Celtic layups and swish3s.

CJ led scoring 3 of 9, Blevins scored 1 of 1, Larry scored 1 of 2, Dennis scored 1 of 3, Ben scored 1 of 4, and Roco scored 1 of 6. Nurk and Elleby were each 0 of 1, and Norm was 0 of 2.

That 8 vs 21 scored swish3s translates into a 39 point deficit, which is more than enough to determine the exaggerated loss. The Celtics outrebounded the Blazers resoundingly 47-31, indicating the much higher energy level that they brought to the game. Chauncey is correct that the Blazers are missing the energy level, focus, and consistency that will be necessary to win, now evident on home court as well as on the road.

The Blazers decisively lost the swish3 contest scoring only 5 of 22 vs the LA Clippers 11 of 36 in the Dec 6 loss 90-102. Dame, CJ, Simons, and Nas were missing due to injuries. This is a pathetic showing, attempting only 22 and missing many wide-open swish3s, The 18 pt deficit was enough to explain the loss, but the 18 turnovers and scoring a measly 16 points in the 4th Q while letting down on defense exaggerated the loss.

Norm led scoring 2 of 8, Dennis and Elleby each scored 1 of 1, and Nurk scored 1 of 2. Ben was 0 of 1, Tony and Larry were each 0 of 2, and Roco was 0 of 5. Ben also left the game with an injury. Norm and Dennis should have attempted swish3s in the 4th Q.

The Blazers are far from the swish3 scoring optimum, and 8 short of this season's average, and that will not keep them in the game against the Warriors on Wed. In the preseason, the Warriors attempted 69 swish3s, and for this game Wed both Steph and Steve Kerr have commented that Steph breaking the record by scoring 16 swish3s is possible. And it is probably one of their objectives. Let's win the swish3 contest Wed!

The Blazers lost the swish3 contest scoring only 8 of 30 vs the Warriors 14 of 46 in the Dec 8 loss 94-104. This was a shorthanded game without Dame, CJ, Simons, and Cody. Nas was also injured and missed the last 20 min of the 2nd half. Weak offense resulted from many missed layups and swish3s (by Q, 29, 17, 11, and 50%). The Blazers tired in the 2nd half (shot only 11% in Q3!) and were outrebounded 43-47.

Ben led scoring 3 of 7, Nas scored 2 of 4, Elleby scored 1 of 1, Roco scored 1 of 3, and Norm scored 1 of 7. Nurk was 0 of 1, Dennis and Tony were each 0 of 2, and Larry was 0 of 3. (Steph Curry was 6 of 17, and thus the Blazers showed some effective defense.)

The 18 pt deficit in swish3s more than accounts for the loss. The Blazers need to find and feed the swish3 hot hand to increase the chance to win!

I have a question Mr. 3 or can I call you Swish?
How come every guy we get that is touted as a great shooter of swish3s starts sucking the minute they step on the Blazers floor? The obvious recent example is Snell, who I think is like a 40% career swish3 shooter over a fairly long career. He cant seem to swish3 into the Pacific Ocean. Tolliver is another example.
Is it the water? The weather? Are they intimidated by Kingspeed's and Chris Craig's swish3 shooting?
    What's the deal?
