could be tough, even just to re-sign our guys. 8 of our players are clearly better than the rest, and 3 of those (assuming we use the player option on Nas) will be free agents: Ant, RoCo, Nurkic CJ and Lillard combined will make about $76 million of a $124 million cap (hopefully this number will go up). As you can see our 6 guys under contract (plus AN, bada bing!) take up about $111 million. If these 3 guys start with an average of $15 million each, then we're at $156 million - which is feeling luxury-taxy, and that's without the required 10th to 15th men. Advice?
blazers can exceed salary cap to re-sign nurkic due to having his bird rights but yes, re-signing nurk, roco & ant will be tough, id say impossible breakthrough of ant & little and having re-signed powell could make cj mccollum expandable (then we would start powell at the shooting guard and little at small forward)
If we let Nurk, Simons, and RoCo walk, will that open up enough money for us to make a huge offer for Elleby to sign back up? That guy is one of the best towel wavers I've seen in a long time. Well, correct that - maybe one of the top 10 best towel wavers I've seen.
I don't see any way the team can re-sign RoCo, Ant, and Nurk. Even 2 out of 3 strikes me as a long shot. It'll piss off many fans, but the best option might be to trade RoCo and one of the others at the deadline. At least, that's what I'd say if I had any faith in our GM.
Ant may well have the most value going forward, but our top 3 current salaries are guards. Somebody has to go.
Tbh I think Nurkic will be signed for less too. Simons might end up being the highest paid with teams hoping he hits his potential. The not completely scratched lottery ticket syndrome.
I can see that. Our 4 highest paid players will be guards, and only one of them is all-star quality. The only question I have is whether Olshey does it because he is an idiot, or because he is a vindictive dick driving the team into a ditch just because he can. (do I sound bitter?)
LOL, yes some big decisions will be need to be made, and especially so if we have another bad playoff performance assuming we even get there. Norm is on a very fair/good contract for what he produces, CJ is overpaid and he basically makes TWICE what Norm does - what a fukkin joke, and Dame if his struggles thus yr continue is not going to be so hot either. we have three 6'3" guards pullin down close to 93 mil. We HAVE to move CJ and hopefully one of the pieces comin back might be an expiring.
Really don’t see big decisions right now. Roco and Nurk probably won’t get paid much. I think Nurk is in for the Drummond experience. Not gonna get paid as much as he thinks. Roco maybe if he starts playing much, much better. As of now he’s in line for a decent pay cut I’d say.
