This surprises me not at all (although really, what kind of comment could she make that wouldn't potentially end up backfiring?)

I agree 100%. Did Quick think she was going stop and say "You know, I'm glad you blindsided me and asked, let me tell you exactly where we are in our investigation and why we may or may not fire our GM...."

I’m glad she was in the building to witness this pathetic showing. Hopefully the axe falls soon.

I think "right now" is important. I think that means that the team does plan on addressing the investigation at some point soon. Obviously she could have either said next to nothing like she did or said that the matter had been closed. I hold a glimmer of hope that the snake oil salesman is still fired before the trade deadline.

I'd imagine that Quick has been trying to get follow up info or a progress report from the team for a week or two and this was his way of telling Jody and then tweeting to the fans that he's not just going to let this go away. I'm sure he didn't intend for this fly by question to illicit any immediate earth shattering news.

honestly, probably the best hope the team has is firing him and sitting damian down for a big chunk of the season and trading Roco, CJ and going from there.

Norm and CJ can't be on the same team, and I'm not even sure Dame and CJ can either. But who is going to deal with the blazers, esp with Olshey as the GM?

Anyone would deal with us. I think it's more a matter of Neil realistically dealing with them. If he thinks that he's going to get some grand return by moving CJ without major draft assets then he'll never get a deal done. If he thinks he's not taking at least a little bit of a loss on RoCo then he won't get a deal done. These players have value to teams but probably not value that Olshey will accept.

Honestly I think we're fucked if Neil is staying around. He is paralyzed by his pride, lacks the ability to accurately evaluate talent and can't grasp putting cohesive talent together. He sucks at this. He has no real basketball background and it is painfully obvious at this point.

Thats kind of what I meant. Why would a team deal with Portland knowing N.O., has steadfast refused to trade precious CJ, and probably is on a Morey level of expectations for CJ.

I still don't get why they re-signed Powell, if this is the role they had in mind for him.

I thought re-signing Powell meant for sure that CJ was gone but it hasn't happened. Just watch us basically stand pat at the trade deadline and then come into next season having matched an offer Ant receives for like 13M per season. 105M tied up in four guys listed at under 6'4". That would be so Olshey.

Im not opposed to re-signing Simons, BUT if they're re-signing him and keeping CJ, Damian and Norman?

It'll be up there in the pantheon of "stupid as fuck" decisions the Blazers franchise makes.

I'd count my blessing if Ant got only 13m/year, and figure out trades after signing him. Letting him walk in RFA without any return would be equally "stupid as fuck" decision. So, best case if Dame, CJ & Norm are staying is trading Ant at the deadline. Which, still stupid, and depressing.

I'd rather keep Simons and figure out how to jettison either CJ or Powell, to be honest. dude is 22 years old, and finally starting to come into his own.
