Now that we got rid of Neil, can Quick and Canazno please follow him out the door![/QUOTE I would drink to that!
I've been an Olshey apologist, but last night was the final draw for me. It's not just the investigation, and the lack of making a deal. The fact that the Blazers have 5 end of the bench guys who CAN'T Play, at all is mindboggling. I wish we could part ways and bring up some G League shooters, and players, who at least have skills. I like the addition of Nance , and Zeller gives effort, but c'mon man. None of these guys can score. It's freaking embarrassing. People are staying away in droves. Last night's effort was pathetic. RoCo and Powell were the only ones who came to play. CJ looks like he's trying to suck, so teams won't trade for him. Nurk was classic Nurk. Tease us with a few good games, then look like a circus clown. Put some some guys around Dame who have heart & soul. So thanks Jody . Please allow Cronin to get this thing started.
Jones was a first-time GM who only became full-time GM in 2019. Olshey was one of the longest tenured active heads of bball ops in the league until this morning. this is not really surprising.
If it was just one.... Missed on Meyers Missed on Zach...and traded 2 picks to do it. Hit on CJ....but it wasn't the right player to put with Dame.
I like to imagine Terry Stotts, Brian Wheeler and the Mike's getting drunk together and sharing war stories tonight.....all going..."Fuck Yeah!"
My $0.02 (and it's not even worth that much). Olshey has been on the hot seat for longer than we have known. He sold Stotts down the river as the guy who was to blame and was given another chance with Billups. It's been a bad fit between coach and personnel from the get-go and ownership knew they were getting of Olshey. This "hostile work environment" garbage either fell onto their laps or it was a mountain made from a molehill used as an excuse to fire him early. Either way, changes are on the horizon. It will be binomial. Either we're going all in to compete for a Championship with Dame or we're blowing it up. My money is unfortunately on the latter as we don't have the draft picks to make short-term trades.
right and neil being the 5th longest tenured head of bball ops in the league until today was purely a coincidence. make no mistake, the ownership group was completely fine with what he did as far as win/loss record. the fallout from mcgowan's resignation made it very clear how in sync Jody was with Neil.
That could be, but i think you get a head start and try to pick up Simmons. Dame, Powell, and Simmons would be a pretty good start. Ant and Nas are nice youthful talents on the rise. Nance a nice glue guy. See if you can get Simmons for CJ/picks, and move off those expirings and go after talent. Christian Wood apparently is on the trade block. Act now. The clock is running.
This post makes no sense to me. Not calling you out personally, but rather the tweet. Why would anyone leave Chicago or NY to make a lateral move to Portland? We're older, with an uncertain ownership situation in a smaller market.
i would bet anything CHI asks for compensation if we take on Eversely. perhaps dropping the protections on that pick. i dunno enough about that guy to see if that's worthwhile considering our barren cupboards as is.
you would assume our role would not simply be GM, but rather President of Basketball Ops. Both of these guys are #2 in their current front offices.
