It also says we discussed CJ+Ant or Little+a first. I suppose Olshey offered that, but Morey asked for CJ,3 firsts and 3 swaps which Olshey rejected. I d happily give up CJ+RoCo for Ben, but we need to keep Ant and Nas in case all goes to shit.
Yeah we badly need those two in case we go full rebuild. If we lose Ant and Nas and still go rebuild we would lose two years
I Come, on IF you trade for Simmons there is no plan to do a blowup, its a retool around Dame. So one of Ant or Nassir can go. I'd prefer to keep Ant because of his better shooting and we would lose CJ who is a good shooter as well - Nas 3pt shooting remains more in doubt. However Ant will need to get paid next yr and Nas has one more cheap yr next yr,
blazers new gm needs to go full daryl morey, risk everything to gain everything and morey was never afraid to pull the trigger everybody and i mean everybody except dame should be available for trade and if that fails miserably, we go into full rebuild, simple as that neither simons or little have potential to be franchise players, so i dont really understand some of you this should have been done long time ago and i dont know if its neil olshey or ownership or both, but fuck them both just in case
As much as I like both if you traded them for Simmons and things went to shit. You’d just trade Dame and Simmons for shit load of draft picks and do full rebuild
Yep, once you make the decision to keep Dame that's how it should be viewed IMO, I would have Powell as my #2 keep and CJ for sure goes, after that whatever it takes
cj mccollum definitely needs to get traded and i would keep powell if we had to chose between the two, but like i said, everyboy should be on the trade block
McCollum, RoCo, 2 firsts For Simmons, Curry Do it now Dame/Simons/Smith Jr Powell/Curry/McLemore Little/Snell Simmons/Nance Jr Nurkic/Zeller Greg Brown Trendon Watford CJ Elleby Keljin Blevins
didnt jason quick said that cj mccollum looked uninspired, maybe it has something to do with dame wanting ben simmons in that case, cj mccollum knows hes the one to get traded and cj mccollum might felt secure with neil olshey, but now it likely wont be the case
Yeah LOL, if Dame says he'd like to play with Simmons then CJ's gotta be thinking "end days" with Blazers are possibly at hand, wish that would have happened a few yrs ago
This was the headline but the note about dame wanting kidd or dantoni as coach because of experience is interesting. Gives credence to billups being a unilateral hire
https://theathletic.com/2999270/202...xt-with-franchise-cornerstone-damian-lillard/ So, what’s next? Lillard intends to give the Trail Blazers organization time to find its next leader of basketball operations. But beyond the front office component, the face of the franchise still wants significant changes to the roster. Multiple sources have told The Athletic that Lillard would like to play with Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons. The Trail Blazers’ league-worst defense would instantly improve, and sharing a backcourt with a non-shooter could work given Lillard’s high-volume usage. Sources say the Trail Blazers, under Olshey, discussed the framework of a trade for Simmons, moving CJ McCollum, a first-round draft pick and a young player such as Nassir Little or Anfernee Simons to Philadelphia. The 76ers, sources said, at one point asked the Trail Blazers for McCollum and multiple draft picks and multiple draft swaps, which Portland rejected. Olshey maintained significant confidence in the roster he constructed. Now, it’s unclear if there’s a deal to be had with the 76ers. But with Olshey out, who among chair Jody Allen, vice chair Bert Kolde and Cronin would be the one making the call on a Simmons trade or any acquisition designed to alleviate Lillard’s concerns? The hope within the organization is that Olshey’s exit acts as a kind of reset. Cronin is overseeing the front office now, and sources said he will be a legitimate candidate for the permanent job. In the interim, Cronin will have autonomy for moves that benefit the organization moving forward. Cronin, a former college player at Northern Colorado, has served as the Blazers’ head of strategy and negotiations for the past decade while utilizing his knowledge of the collective bargaining agreement and salary cap and scouting.
well trading CJ with Simmons coming back means there is only one poor defender in the starting lineup - Dame, assuming Powell at SG, Simmons SF or PF and perhaps Nance or Nas as the other starter. I am assuming both Roco and CJ would be traded for Simmons
