Mirabel is friends with Mario from HS, of course he's gone. I've heard McClendon is gone too.

They just named McClendon interim coach for the bowl game. They were waiting to see who was not following Mario before naming that position. My guess is he is planning on staying at this point.

Thibodeaux declaring for the draft. Won’t play in the bowl game.

yeah, I do. They've already had at least 4 today de-commit

some may just re-open their recruiting and wait for the Feb. NLI date to see what happens at in the coaching search. But they will definitely lose several. And, the transfer portal will probably be pretty busy as well.

now, some of this will depend on what coaches follow MC to Miami. Mirabel definitely will follow. Feld, the strength coach will almost certainly go to. I'd really like if Bobby Williams, the special teams coach, went to Miami as well. Jim Mastro, the RB coach is a possible departure with mario

I don’t blame him either, but it seems we see this happening more often in recent seasons. Kind of takes the shine off of bowl games.

I heard Thibideaux told teammates he'd play if the Ducks made the playoffs or Rose Bowl, but not anything less

Agree! Recruits are gonna head elsewhere. This is a real bad blow to what was being built by Mario. Wilcox would probably love to be named head coach, but that won't attract 5 stars. Luke Fickell is the guy, if his family is willing to move, that would be my choice. I don't think money is a factor. If it is, be prepared Duck Fans to step back to a by gone era, and that ain't pretty when you see the STUD COACH at USC.

Makes sense and, as I said, I don’t blame him. He needs to look out for his future. I’d like it if there was some way to provide adequate insurance so that teams that play in the bowl games are representative of the regular season teams.

Flowe can never stay on the field anyways. I’m hoping Aranda is the guy. You’ll see recruits stay with his potential hiring.

I would hope they give their best shot at Aranda and Fickell. Both would be swing swings, but Mullen's has to give it a shot. I don't think any other options are on that level.

Agree. Sorry but after all that was expected, only to hit a huge pothole, the Alamo Bowl feels like the Outhouse Bowl. The Ducks should start Thompson, and let him get more live reps in preparation for next year. Or he may enter the transfer portal as well. Live reps is the real way to learn. I know he threw a couple picks when he got in late but he's learning. Otherwise, this bowl will probably be a snooze fest.

I think if they do that they'll burn his RedShirt... Otherwise I'd agree.

Phil will bring in somebody good. Hopefully long term.

I know Thompson played in 3 games for sure. He's allowed 4. Did he play in a 4th already. I watched a majority of the games here in Colorado, but missed a couple due to them being on the Pac 12 Network.

there's no doubt that Oregon will contact both, or at least their representatives. The Ducks contacted a lot of big names right after they fired Helfrich, and after Chip left. They just didn't get much interest in return. Guys like Rhule and Hermann had no interest at all.

the only coach who had any interest was PJ Fleck. And a head coach of Western Michigan isn't a big name. He's also pretty loopy, or at least he was at the time

now, just maybe, after Mario has shown you can recruit big-time to Eugene, and with the Ducks seemingly willing to spend over 8M/ year for a HC, the equation has changed. Not sure what it's worth, or if it's even true, but the rumor is while Baylor has offered Aranda an extension, he hasn't accepted and signed yet. Of course, he may just be waiting for some school like Oregon to come calling so he has leverage to force Baylor into upping the offer

now, Aranda has a lot of west coast ties; Fickell has been in Ohio his whole football life; so there's that. I'd agree Aranda should be the #1 target. Then maybe Fickell and Matt Campbell. I'm just not optimistic about the Ducks' chances with any. But I guess 8-10M/year is pretty persuasive. I sure think Baylor would match though. Cincinnati might not

It's time for the Ducks to hire a Gary Anderson type of garbage coach. God, that still pisses me off. At Thanksgiving this year I was thankful for Jonathan Smith.

None of you care and I'm okay with that.
