I love this Cronin guy. You could tell he was nervous but its also easy to tell he's smart and good vibes. Also sounds willing and able to get creative re: trades. Seems he's more open minded than Neil who pretty much only made straight forward moves and avoided as much risk as possible.
Cronin is my favorite GM ever already...I loved that Chauncey beat him in the state championship in Denver in HS.......best front office I could hope for...I hope he keeps the job
I like this guy alot. Seems thoughtful, not quick to react. No one seems like a “know it all”, which is great to me as well. When did NO ever say he has things to learn and improve on? oh yeah. NO who????
Cronin is definitely likeable. Night and day difference with the previous guy probably take a while to start gauging how competent he is
He definitely passed the first test (the PC). BUT, at the risk of pulling an ABM here, he's gotta act like we're all from the state of Missouri. "show me".
I agree. I like what I heard and his demeanor. quite different from Neil’s aggressive car salesman approach. But how’s he going to be negotiating when the going gets tough?
Time will tell soon, im sure, as they all know we need to improve. I hope he is a beast behind closed doors.
The best negotiators that I know all have a demeanor similar to Joe. The car salesmen types are talked about more - but most people HATE working with them. In the long run, they are less effective. I'm not sure how he behaves in his home life should be our concern here....
Joes seem to be level headed and realistic, he knows it will take a methodical approach to get things rolling again.
Yes on car salesman but people can have the gift of gab without coming off that way. The question will be, does Joe have the gift of gab? Or is he a Rich Cho? There is a HUGE difference there.
Job security actually give Joe a headstart on swinging for the fences...I took from his interview that he'll make some moves and fill some roster holes. If he pulls off a level changing trade he'll be in the driver's seat for the job long term...if not they'll probably find a guy who will swing for the fences
Joe Cronin has an impressive resume. He played college ball, he then earned his masters while working as a graduate assistant at the University of Denver. Then he has worked his way up through the Blazers organization, step by step. This is a basketball guy with a mind. That doesn't mean he'll be a great GM necessarily but he's a very very qualified GM. I really liked his demeanor in the press conference.
