I think this deserves its own thread. If each of these guys is in the right context, both's contracts are bargains. Sadly, for Nurk the right context might be "the 90's" (although that would mean his contract would NOT be a bargain). Be that as it may, both are on expiring contracts and even if we wanted to keep them, we might not be able to. But expiring contracts alone have value in this league, so... Suggestion 1: Why Blazers do it - pretty obvious. Why Detroit does it - either to get out from Grant's contract or because they really value a center like Nurk (and everyone can slide over - Steward to PF, Bey to SF). Not ideal for RoCo but they can flip him, or maybe they value a defensive mentor. I think we're worse off (and so does the Trade Machine) but if we're going to lose them anyway...
Suggestion 2: As we can see, we'd have to wait a while to do this one. Again: I'm not a fan of Randle, but he had an impressive regular season last year. Why would Knicks do it? Cap space is way more valuable to them than to us, and in the meantime, Thibs would love Covington, and probably Nurk too. I think the Knicks realize by now that Randle is not going to be the guy to carry them out of purgatory.
Giant trade: Another one we'd have to wait on (not that it would ever happen). Why it makes sense for us: gets us under the luxury tax and gets us a very nice young center. Why it makes sense for the Cavs: they offload Love and those are three useful players for a contender. Allen and Mobley are too similar to stay on the same team for long, only Mobley's ceiling is WAY higher. (It's like a Nurk/Jokic thing.) But he's still a stick, so he could stand to play next to Nurk at least for a while. And let's not forget, CJ is an Ohio guy.
Ridiculous trade, just for shits and giggles: Cavs would REALLY need to want to unload Love. But hey, according to the TM the other teams should want to do it!
You're right, a general trade thread covering all trades for all teams is all we need, really. But then again, why not just one thread for all basketball-related matters? We wouldn't want needless duplication. I DEMAND ONE THREAD FOR EVERYTHING! THREAD CONSERVATION NOW!
Right now Allen is playing as he is the best C in the league dominating all opponents last month so if I am the Cavs I ain't giving that up. And the pairing with Mobley is great so far. They also have to renew Sexton over summer who we can say is a younger CJ with higher ceiling. CJ has one more year than Love so cap wise his contract is worse. If they were ready to contend now maybe they would do it but it hurts them for the future.
Would prefer adding in Ziaire Williams, instead of Clarke and Tillman. Can we get a pick out of this?
They started playing well after Sexton went down. I don't think they value Sexton all that highly. I'm ready to be proved wrong but I think he's more their Monta Ellis who needs to be removed for them to flourish. Garland, on the other hand, is a definite cornerstone. Agree trading Allen isn't that likely. But I really do believe that Mobley's future is at the 5, so...
Well, Clarke and TIllman are both 4s. It's getting a big NEXT year expiring in Adams for Nurk, and then 2 younger PFs for Roco, and hopefully a pick.
I've watched them. Their best position is definitely 5. I'm not sure why BBRef classifies them as 4s but if they can't shoot it's going to be hard to find minutes for them at a forward spot.
I guess I don't understand why the Grizzlies traded Valanciunas for Adams in the first place, but they've been playing really well with him of late, so I don't see why they'd want to make another center trade so soon? Love me some Adams as a person and a character, though, and I've been hankering after Tillman since before they drafted him.
I dunno if they would do it or not. Part of it could be, if they think they can get Nurk for under 18 a year, then they save a chunk of $$ off of Adams' salary next year. If you compare the two, Nurk is better than him this year in just about every possible category.
Gets our pick back. White's a taller PG, that could offer different looks alongside Lillard, SImons and Powell when we eventually move CJ?Shaves 2 million off the tax.
GSW badly need size. Lee is a wash, but Wiseman should have a very bright future once healthy. I think GSW would maybe consider it. Probably they will go after Valencunas by throwing in a bit more.
