Sure, but the problem, as is plainly clear by now, was not TS. It was the roster.

Terry's job (any coach that does not work for a tanking team, really) is to maximize the roster he has. It is pretty clear, given what we see with a mostly identical roster - that Terry has done a pretty good job with that roster.

To be fair, we're not very good either way.

If it leads to this version finally being broken down and a MAJOR reset so we can move forward, it will be worth it. Just spinning your wheels in the mud, while it can be fun at first, gets very old after a while.

Your logic is 100% sound. I'm just saying its a big change from saying "deepest team we've had in years" and "any coach will be a major upgrade" to "time to tank" in 29 games.

I don't know how anyone could have said the first two things and still be confident that they have any clue on what the best course of action is moving forward.

I wanted to tank to add more talent to Dame when he was younger. They were at the #5/6 Lottery pick level and scratching and clawing to make the play-in or #8 seed didn't change how flawed this roster is and was. Unfortunately, now the same thing needs to happen, it's just that Dame is older.

This post stinks of a lack of understanding about what is going on now and what did go on with Clyde. Right now Dame has expressed a desire to stay here and do everything he can to win it all here and has expressly said that if he comes up short he can live with that. Clyde on the other hand asked to be moved to his home town team, to play with his college teammate, who was defending the title. That's Clyde asking to go and a very special set of circumstances that made the FO sentimental.

So no we should not trade Dame against his will to a contender unless we decide that we don't care what he wants and are being cut throat because the contender is offering us more value than we think Dame has left in him. Make no mistake about it, that would be the opposite of what we did with Clyde which was to give our all time great what he wanted. Again, what our all time great wants now is to fucking stay here. So stop as Dame said a few days ago "thinking you know what's in his best interests" because you obviously know very little about what's going on an what's gone on.

Really? You better hope so. Easy to say that all we gotta do now is "heal" or I see people say "rebuild". That shit ain't guaranteed. Everybody on here bitching about making the playoffs was always funny to me. Well, buckle up FAMS.....you got what you asked for.

I think the key term here is "IF" . Rebuilds are NOT guaranteed. If they were, the 15 teams that are shit every year wouldn't be SHIT every year. Wasn't it just a little bit that we would be better by just getting rid of Melo/Kanter/Stotts? That's what we were told. I'll take the time in the mud winning and making the playoffs over "IFS" every day and then some! Once again, you guys got what you asked for, buckle up.

Rebuilding....from what? Getting trounced in the first round the vast majority of the time we make the Playoffs? Okay....I'm fine with that. Then again, I'm not satisfied with mediocrity over and over again. I'm going to make every effort to get better and if that means losing the battle to win the war, I'm fine with that as well.

To be fair to many many of us we thought we wouldn't be better until we broke up the Dame/CJ back court and that's not a sentiment that's one or two seasons old, we've thought that way for over half a decade now. Also now that we are seeing less than stellar results from players in Chauncey's systems, most of us want to see if we can get value for those players that struggle so badly and get players that might be a better fit.

For a decade we had Olshey just worrying about if players could be good at the game in some way and not really either knowing what pieces fit together or thinking that fit didn't matter. I fully blame that on Olshey's lack of experience in high level basketball. While Cronin was playing college ball, then being a graduate assistant and then working his way up through the Blazers organization during his early adulthood; Olshey was playing lacrosse and trying to be an actor. Even though Olshey didn't understand it fit matters, so if we need to take a slight downgrade in talent to make this team cohesive, that's what many people think we should do.

I think we be in the same boat if we kept kanter melo and stotts but maybe not as bad. I thought we going have a season like this sooner due last couple years we stuggle to get in the 1st round. Last we could been in play-in one or two games we sneek in number 6 the following we was a play-in. Now our star player having a down year you can say it's his injuries or can say he might be sliding on the other side who knows. Then a new coach that's trying put system in that's he doesn't have the right players to play it probably and now it's looks like he throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

Once again bro.....you keep saying "IF". It's not guaranteed. I'd rather make the playoffs every year. So would the owners and players. Only people not content with that are people who think we should win a championship every season. You know how many franchises and fan bases would love to just, "make the playoffs and be mediocre" season after season. The majority my friend. You know who else likes making the playoffs every season......SPONSORS. The big wigs paying these dudes checks.
I don't know about you FAMS.....but I'd rather spin my wheels in MUD than SHIT!

This season is not materially different than the '16-'17 season (where we had a record of 13-20) or the '19-'20 season (where we had a record of 14-21) so far.
It will be interesting the route the team takes now. Will they continue to fight & claw for the #8 playoff spot to get swept? Or are they finally ready to shake up the roster (ie - trade CJ for a productive player at a position of need).

I cheer for Chauncey but it's clear to me that the change that was needed on this team was GM more than coach.....I enjoyed the Stotts era ...the team had some swagger..as of right now, it looks like they've not only been spinning in the mud but have sunken in the quicksand..... I hope Chauncey can turn it around but right now he isn't on the level of any vet coach...couple seasons he probably will be but it's going to be an awkward season until he does...Dame should have never played in the Olympics this summer....that hurt him in my view

It takes fertilizer to make the lawn and flowers grow. As a landscaping technician, I'm surprised that has escaped you.

As for the 'If', there has been no 'If' with this roster for years. They are NOT and have NOT been a contender.....not IF's, ANDs, or BUTs.

You cannot catch lightning in a bottle and make a great run in the playoffs if you don’t even make the playoffs.
You cannot get a lucky draw in the playoffs and to the next round unless you actually make the playoffs.
People complaining about being a decent regular season team don’t seem to understand that you must win games during the season to even get a chance to win games in the post season.
