No. 21 Kentucky dominates Tar Heels wire-to-wire, wins 98-69

Kentucky coach John Calipari gave a simple message to Sahvir Wheeler before the Wildcats' showdown with North Carolina, both individually and in front of the team: "Lead us."

Whether or not he produced offensively, Calipari pleaded with the team's fourth-leading scorer who averages just 9.9 points per game.

Saturday, he led, on a stage he cherished.

Wheeler scored 26 points and No. 21 Kentucky beat North Carolina 98-69 on Saturday in the CBS Sports Classic.

Kessler, No. 11 Auburn topple unbeaten No. 16 LSU 70-55

Auburn's Walker Kessler blocked three shots before LSU made a single one.

It was that kind of night for both Auburn's 7-foot-1 center and LSU's offense.

Kessler had 16 points, a career-high 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds to lead No. 11 Auburn to a 70-55 victory over previously unbeaten No. 16 LSU on Wednesday night in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams.

Keion Brooks Jr. quickly established the spark Kentucky wanted against Missouri before supplying another jump start later to seal another convincing victory.

Brooks scored 17 points, TyTy Washington Jr. added 14 and No. 18 Kentucky overcame an uneven second half to roll past Missouri 83-56 on Wednesday night in the Southeastern Conference opener for both schools.

No. 2 Duke returns from COVID-19 outbreak, tops Georgia Tech

Mike Krzyzewski could sense his Duke players were battling fatigue by halftime in the second-ranked Blue Devils' return from a COVID-19 outbreak. So he kept the message simple.

"I said, ‘I know you guys are tired," he said. "'But you cannot be tired on the defensive end."

The approach worked, with the Blue Devils holding Georgia Tech to 33% shooting while grinding out a 69-57 win on Tuesday night in their first game in nearly two weeks.

Days scores 20 near home, No. 12 LSU beats Florida 64-58

Darius Days was mostly miserable during his last two trips home to play in front of friends and family members. He struggled, and LSU lost.

He tried to relax a little more this time around and ended up giving dozens of his fans who made the short trip north plenty of reason to cheer.

Days scored 20 points about 25 miles up the road from his hometown, Eric Gaines added 15 in his second start of the season and No. 12 LSU edged Florida 64-58 on Wednesday night.

Washington helps No. 18 Kentucky rout No. 22 Tennessee

Just winning would have been fitting enough to honor the passing of a Kentucky coaching great.

The No. 18 Wildcats took that objective a step further, doing it convincingly with near-perfect offense thanks to a defense that created plenty of easy chances.

Freshman TyTy Washington Jr. scored a career-high 28 points, Sahvir Wheeler returned from injury to add 21 points and Kentucky shot a season-high 68% to blow out No. 22 Tennessee 107-79 on Saturday.
