    POR
out: CJ, Nurk, Roco, Simons, 2 firsts
    in: Simmons, Sabonis, Kemba

    PHI
    out: Simmons
    in: CJ + 3 firsts (POR/POR/DAL)

    IND
    out: Sabonis
in: Nurk, Simons, 1 first (NY)
(they would still need a subsequent move for Turner obviously)

    NY
    out: Kemba
    in: Roco + 2 firsts
(think NY might be the only one to balk, but if the value for roco is one pick, the value to dump kemba's contract for next year might be another)

We end up with: Dame/Powell/Simmons/Nance/Sabonis, with Kemba/Nas topping off the 7 man rotation. Figuring Ben Mac would get more run which he should. Losing depth here but a trio of Dame/Simmons/Sabonis is three bonafide all stars. Still would need to move Snell/Cody to duck the tax.

Slight variation to above idea-- sub Turner for Sabonis, and we keep Simons. Think that's probably a better fit for both us and the Pacers.

    anyone got trader joe's email?

Indiana: Has no need for Nurk, the whole point of trading one of Sabonis/Turner is to balance out their roster. they're not trading both, so what exactly is the point of this trade for them? They also already have a young scoring guard in Duarte, so they probably dont value a guy like Simons.

NY: Kemba is an expiring contract next season, they dont need to attach a first to dump him and I doubt Roco fetches a first either, especially not from the Knicks, where he would be a bench player as he's never gonna start over Randle or RJ.

Love these trade proposals that put zero to no thought into other teams' needs and situations.

Turner is better fit. I don't think they would part with Sabonis for Nurk, Ant and a pick. That is not a great haul.

This trade was on Bleacher Report. I can't verify with the trade machine on ESPN, since it won't let you include Norm in a trade, so not sure how realistic it is. I know it would have to wait until January 15th since Norm is included. I would rather see Ant included and keep Nas.

Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G/F Ben Simmons, C Myles Turner, G/F Danny Green

Indiana Pacers Receive: SG CJ McCollum, F Nassir Little, C Cody Zeller, 2024 first-round pick (lottery-protected, via Portland Trail Blazers*), 2022 second-round pick (via Portland)

Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G/F Caris LeVert, SG Norman Powell, PF Larry Nance Jr.

    Dame/simons
    Green/mclemore
    Simmons/
    Turner/roco
    Nurk

I dont really like that team. If we could trade nurk for some desperately needed death maybe?

Sabonis and Simmons is my ultimate re-tooling scenario - fans would flock back.

Find a way to add Kenyon Martin, Jr (bench energy/shot blocking) to that return and it’s perfect.

the numbers would work, but i feel like it's a bit complicated. would Philly prefer LeVert+ Powell over CJ? why is there a nance for green swap happening?

    upload_2021-12-21_12-59-14.png

it can be simplified more than this. And we'd still have to trade Nurk. And is Ant our SG?

generally id agree. but could a nurk/turner duo work with simmons as the versatile wing that could hold that defensive lineup together?

Cavs are making a three 7 footer lineup work and have a top level defense largely based on Mobley's versatility. maybe...

There's a Detroit fan idea that has RoCo, Ant and a future first going to Detroit for Grant. I don't think that can be the only deal that we do but I do like it.

If we followed that up with CJ and Larry to the Pacers for LeVert and Turner. That would make us really nice.

Then obviously we would trade Nurk and I just read an article the other day bout how the Raptors and Celtics might both be interested in Nurk. I have pitched a version of this trade before but if the Raptors would give up Boucher (which they would), Flynn, Watanabe and their upcoming first rounder, then I'd do that and maybe even use the first rounder to make the deal with Indy easier for them to say yes to.

I think Flynn could give DSJ a run for his money to become our backup PG but LeVert has run the point a lot during his career too.

I think a starting lineup of Dame, Norm, LeVert, Boucher, Turner with Nas as a sixth man is a great start. We obviously have other bench players that have contributed but those would be the six players central to our success and I think we would be a very hard team to score on and have a ton of shot makers around Dame that can also slash to the rim.

All of the Cavs 7 footers are much more mobile than Nurk. I think you'd have to move Nurk in that situation and there would be options to do so.

THIS is the trade. I've been hoping someone would come up with a way we could acquire Simmons and Sabonis without dealing Nas or a million draft picks and this not only does that, it also keeps Norm and Nance who actually fit really well with this rotation or still could be dealt to get a little more length on the wing or another big.

The only minor eh is taking Kemba instead of someone a little younger or with a little more length, but it's a very, very minor quibble. He's still like a Dame-lite or Chris Paul-lite. You can easily play him 12 minutes or so at PG in resting Dame and not have to change your offensive approach at all, and he has the clutch gene.

Keeping Nas is a priority for me right now over anyone but Dame, because he's so versatile. I'd like to see him a little more at the 2, but I don't cringe seeing him guard a really good PG, he's a three-level scorer, he outrebounds his height, he's athletic and physical. He's getting to a point where you start to expect him to get 10 and 7 without designing stuff to get him shots. Considering how much time he's missed with injury and illness, it's pretty remarkable.

Yeah, three legit all-stars. Vastly improved ballhandling and defense with very little sacrifice in terms of offense and rebounding. Good depth. That roster can compete with anyone in the West. It's not perfect, but none are. It makes teams have to give up certain things to have to contain the things you can do well. I have a hard time believing the Pacers would trade Sabonis, but if this trade could get done, I'd be giddy.

just fyi, i think a lot of the league's front office personnel are actually in vegas right now for the GLeague showcase. I asked Fischer if Cronin is there but he didn't respond. But quite a few others are definitely there.

IMO, that's waaaaaay too much for a top talent who can't shoot the 3, a good stretch big and a geriatric version of Ben McLemore. The Blazers would be giving up both off-guards who average around 20 ppg with no one to replace them, a versatile starting big, their best young talent and two draft picks that would help them at least get cheap role players that would help offset what they traded away.

I just read a trade idea that had Portland trading CJ alone for Bogdonavic, Cam Reddish...some guy with a last name Okongwu....and we get Atlanta's 22 first round pick....I thought that seemed like a good deal...and CJ being in Atlanta would be useful as president of the players union. ...that's trading a 6'3 guy for a 6'6 guy and two 6'8 guys.....
