speaking of raptors, check out what chris boucher is doing again now that he's playing. with Anunoby and Barnes set to return from injury, I'm guessing his PT will go into the tank because nick nurse hates him for some reason.

given his FA status, it might not take much to get him.

seems like the kinda obvious high upside choice for cronin. his production also appears to be scalable given some of his huge games he's had in his career. Just put up a near 30/20 game this week.

(also fun fact.... he's older than Nurk).

He’s been playing good defense since starting. Not sure which game you’re watching.

HE WENT TO OREGON SO WE HAVE TO GET HIM CAUSE ITS MORE ABOUT WHERE THEY WENT TO SCHOOL AND CLOSENESS AND BLAH BLAH FUCKING BLAH.

You're not saying that but I'm imagining we will hear this come the off-season. Cause you are right.

might want to emphasize that im not saying that i want him because of oregon.

because i have been steadfast in veering away from local candidates for coach/gm/etc because it's all bullshit.

Bet you couldn’t prove it. His defensive rating was its lowest this month and he was a -14 in +\- (was neutral or a plus before CJ got hurt)

    What games you watching?

I think raptors. I know they may lose boucher for nothing but Knox? Mehhhh.

    Otherwise it's not terrible.

They didn't rob him. Powell is cheaper because his contract runs many more years at a decent value. Raptors have power over Trent for just one more season.
His next contract can be way more expensive with the spike in salary cap.

Btw the tools were not evident with Trent. He was terrible defensively for Portland.

Since CJ has been out, Powell has had a worse individual DRtg than the overall team rating in all but 2 games, FWIW.

I expected Powell to be a much better defender than he actually is. He might be a little better than Dame & CJ. He seems to fight thru screens a little better at least. But he gets beat off the dribble as much as the other Blazer sieves, and he's really no quicker on rotations. And I haven't noticed his defense improving when he moves to SG

Since Powell moved to SG, they have had even less size than 'normal' and often are dealing with about half a roster. Would like to see what those numbers were like in a larger sample size with the more of a traditional lineup. Then again, I want a lot of moves to be made so that lineup might be a while in coming.

hard to make too much of anything given the sample size.

Been watching the Pacers lately just because they seem like a good trade partner but yikes. Wonder how many of the Turner truthers actually watch him play. So many of his blocks are of the help variety. He actually gets pushed around pretty easily in the post by anyone with size and is an awful rebounder for a guy with his size and athleticism. He would drive me up the wall if I had to watch him every game. LeVert is a poor mans CJ. Sabonis is good offensively but not what this team needs, his defense is average at best and offers little resistance at the rim, straight up doesn’t even attempt to block shots.

funny how the enthusiasm for players from other teams gets reduced the more you watch them play.

63 games as a Blazers is a fairly significant sample size

And close to 60 of those have been out of position, fair?

his numbers would be even worse if that didn’t happen as he’s graded out better as a SF.

as I said....I have not seen his defense improve noticeably when he's guarding SG's rather than SF's. He doesn't seem to defend Devin Booker better then he does Mikal Bridges; or Donovan Mitchell better than he does Joe Ingles; or Jordan Poole better than he does Andrew Wiggins

I'd like to think he'd be better defensively than CJ at the full time SG; he probably would be. But he's a hell of a long ways from being the defender that Wesley Matthews was, and Matthews was only above average, not elite

Trade values are plummeting after each game.

    Awesome strategy, Sleepy Joe!
