talk about bullshit yeah, it's true, technically, but the real context is Portland got swept in the very next series rendering that game 7 win virtually meaningless. More than that, the next time those two teams met in the playoffs, Denver was injured and still won 4-2. That's when Dame, the guy you're trashing in this thread, averaged 34 & 10 but got no support at all from his role-playing teammates
did anyone else catch Quick on the richman pod talking about this drama? some backstory... He said Dame walked up to him before the Hornets game and asked Quick if he wrote that Portland should trade Dame. To which, Quick responded that they should explore all options which includes moving him. Apparently, Dame just turned and walked away and he hasn't spoken since. Kinda made it seem on the pod like Dame was acting like a diva and is frustrated with how he's playing so he's taking it out on the media this year. to Quick's credit, he repeatedly said he doesn't want to make the situation worse by talking about it and hates that he's part of the story.
So if that is true, it is ok for Dame to have dinner with Lebron and AD trying to convince him to want to be in a superteam, but Dame would not be ok with the team exploring all options, including potentially moving him? Nice.
Being a diva? Quick is writing articles about him being traded. He has had to deal with the media making shit up all season about him wanting out. It makes sense he wouldn't be happy with that. Seems like it was a dick move by Quick
It's not unusual nor a stretch that Dame in the off season had dinner at Lebron's....they had a movie debut together ...Lebron has picked Dame for his allstar team twice and they're friendly...he probably also had dinner with Lil Wayne and Snoop Dog....people made a whole lot of nothing over this story and according to Dame he didn't pursue a change of teams anyway. After yet another declaration of loyalty and his daily meetings with Chauncey about improvements...for Quick to throw out that clickbait was purely kicking a guy just coming out of his first real slump in his career...I don't blame Dame at all for his reaction...mine was the same when I heard Quick try to walk it back on Mike Richmans podcast....love is unconditional trust. That's what a franchise player eats for breakfast....not to be considered an expendable asset but to be considered a cornerstone of a franchise Dame has more than earned that respect
Sounds like thin skin though. It could be a trigger based on all the other stuff said about him. But writers should write on the teams best interest. Exploring all options right now is what the team should do. That doesn't necessarily mean they will or should trade him.
Well, we only hear quick's side of the issue, if he is representing it truthfully, this one is not on quick. But, per usual you have to ask if you believe him or not.
And it is not unusual for teams to explore all options. That is a part of the gig. And writers will write about stuff like that. That doesn't mean they will trade him or Quick has anything against him. Quick can be a jerk but Canzano he is not. If we got an offer of Luka Doncic for Dame, we should explore it. Not just turn it down just because.
Quick wasn't "making things up," he was writing an opinion piece about how the Blazers should be exploring all the possibilities, including trading Lillard. If Lillard really got upset about that, that's Lillard having very thin skin.
this is nothing new from dame. he was jokingly called out for having "twitter fingers" by Melo after Dame was beefing with Skip Bayless. oddly enough, I think a lot of high level athletes are wired like this.
I think you're right that having words put in his mouth all summer by writers has probably made Dame a little more weary of any writer. Dame has just within the last couple months voiced his desire to stay with the team and build something with Chauncey, he's also said he wants to win a championship here but if he does things the way he thinks are the right way and ends up without a ring that he can live with that. So in the midst of his worst slump in his career and one of the team's worst starts in his career Quick runs a story saying that the Blazers should seriously consider trading Dame. If I was Dame and already very weary of the intentions of writers and the local guy did that, I would see it as kicking me while I'm down and really kicking me the first time that I'd ever been down or in other words the first time it would make any sense to anyone to recommend trading Dame, Quick took the chance to do so. I wouldn't talk to that guy anymore either. Dame doesn't have an obligation to make the lives of people that kick him while he's down easier.
I disagree....Dame is a unicorn and Luka has talent but a poor work ethic..comes into camp way out of shape...I wouldn't trade Dame for Luka at all..and the GMs agree with me on this one....Dame's not on the trade table and won't be unless he demands it......story closed. Also Dame wants to be here...he's the chip that brings talented vets here for one reason only...to play with him. Why throw that away on some gamble and trade machine bs........I heard Quick's whole justification and he just lost his inside track to our star for writing a piece about trading him given the timing of his article....he wouldn't have written it if Dame were leading the MVP race this season...I promise you that...you don't kick great guys when they're down. My two cents
Quick was writing about considering all options. 'All options', by it's definition would be to CONSIDER moving Dame. He wasn't suggesting a trade, he wasn't advocation for one, he dared to offer up the possibility that something be simply considered. Then he was directly asked in a podcast about it after Dame posted the 'snake' picture. It is getting to where people are condemned for even the idea of thinking about exploring a possibility......especially, given a situation. That seems awfully week. Then again, 'Portland', where we are offended, feel slighted, or riot about just about anything.
