Sleepy Joe learned from Purgatory Neil for a decade. Expect this year’s pick to be dealt for immediate help - a mid-tier player. The Olshey special. You know that’ll be their big splash
This year's pick was already conditionally dealt for an upgrade to a mid-tier player so unless we got that pick back from the Bulls in a trade, we can't pull that trick again right now. I also think that if you are under the assumption that because one guy who worked for both Pritchard and Olshey is somehow going to do the exact same thing that Neil would do, that seems like a huge stretch and most likely a miscalculation. Although, I do think one likely move could be a repeat from last season's trade deadline. We could see Ant and RoCo or Ant and Nurk moved for a big that Cronin sees as an upgrade that makes just enough to get us under the tax. Maybe that's all that gets done but I don't think that would be enough for Cronin to keep his job once our season ends. Which means even if a deal like that does get made, I would expect another bigger deal to be made as well.
One thing that Joe has been part of for 15 years is holding his cards close to his sleeve...when did we ever see an accurate rumor until just before the deadline before? The media guys who claim inside info seem to hint that Roco is the first card to fall and probably in the not too distant future...that deal is targeted to somehow get 3 mil under the cap and then who knows? Maybe when it rains it floods. In the meantime we're going to see lots of Elleby and Smith Jr
I think Nurk, Nance and RoCo are gone by the deadline. I expect Zeller to be starting for the tank train. I think we get the 4th overall pick and pair it with CJ in the offseason for a second all star.
Smith might be part of a trade due to they just guarantee his contract and they might need to pull deal that includes Roco or someone else.
Hoping Covington and Nurkic both are gone if it’s really true there are more sellers than buyers. I would also see if Anfernee shows enough by the trade deadline if a team like NYK would offer Quickley, a 1st and a 2nd for him. But if no other deals are our there I keep him.
Here’s my order of any trade deadline deals: 1. Nance 2. CJ 3. RoCo 4. McLemore 5. Nurkic 6. Zeller 7. Powell 8. Snell 9. Little 10. Simons 11. Smith 12. Brown 13. Watford 14. Blevins
Problem is people are thinking “who are we trading” instead of “who are we targeting and trading for.” The Raptors didn’t think “let’s trade DeRozen.” They thought “let’s get Kawhi.” People who say Trade CJ are just like the Fire Stotts crowd. Just wanting someone gone. We should’ve let Stotts’ contract run out and then made a decision. How much to extend him or who could we get instead. That’s not what Olshey did. He blamed Stotts. He didn’t truly think “Billups is better than Stotts.” He thought let’s get rid of him and there will be a magical transformation which of course there wasn’t. At all. As for CJ, people have wanted him gone for so long that they’ve offered up deals that we’d laugh at now. For years, people wanted a CJ for Aaron Gordon deal just for the sake of trading CJ. Not because Gordon is amazing which he isn’t. So in full, let’s not target our players. Target stars from other teams that fit our vision around Dame and then give up whatever it takes (players and picks) to get them. If Simmons was truly targeted, he’d already be a Blazer. I’ve said my peace. I hope you understand.
you are correct with this premise; it’s one thing to trade guys but who are we trading for? However, I think in our case it’s more of “it’s time to unload these players and contracts and while we might have one or two targets in mind, I think building with youth and trading for picks is really the aim. Problem is that we can’t trade a CJ for a team’s pick…so we will most likely have to trade for expiring contracts in order to obtain picks. Who are these expiring contracts that will come off the books this Summer yet gain us a decent pick or two?
Do you see an available big out there worthy of trading for? Ayton of PHX? KAT of Minny? Sure, but our roster, outside of Dame, won’t get the job done.
I know that the Pacers want to shake things up so... I know that Christian Wood is also on the market but that team doesn't need Ant, so maybe a three team deal for that guy.
I always look at the "Wins" prediction. Funny that a whole lot of them have the Blazers getting worse. Just seems funny that this team would be worse after trading players that most on here would be willing to give up?
Would you let a guy with hands like that hold your babies? He might drop one or miss the crib from 5 feet. (just teasin Robot guy, makin sure you're awake back there)
i watched some guy’s YouTube post about Wood. Sounds like a head case. Pass on Wood. But working a trade with Indy may be a nice partnership!
