Klutch keeps pushing this stuff with their mouthpiece Shams. Now they're trying to connect ATL and Collins with Philly. Why Morey would want to pair Collins with Embiid is a mystery.

    https://theathletic.com/3060724/202...ba-news-and-notes/?source=user_shared_article

Philadelphia 76ers three-time All-Star Ben Simmons remains the biggest name on the trade market, with suitors in the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers among others, according to sources.

Simmons has yet to play this season after informing his 76ers organization, coaches and teammates that he is not mentally ready to play and needs time to work on himself. The 76ers have not been fining Simmons, as he fulfills team obligations such as training sessions and team meetings as well as continuing to meet with mental health specialists, sources said. And yet, the 76ers don’t appear any closer to a trade than they were in the offseason and prior to training camp.

The Hawks are an emerging potential landing spot for Simmons, whose Defensive Player of the Year-caliber play would surely elevate one of the league’s bottom five defenses. In scanning the Hawks’ roster, it’s obvious John Collins — who signed a five-year, $125 million deal in restricted free agency last offseason — and Cam Reddish are among the players who could acquiesce a package for Simmons. It’s unclear whether the Hawks are ready to put such a proposal on the table after making a run to the Eastern Conference finals a season ago.

Collins, however, has grown increasingly frustrated over his role in Atlanta, multiple sources have told The Athletic. His shot attempts per game and usage rate have decreased in each of the past three seasons — even as the athletic, energetic Collins has improved his offensive repertoire. The 6-foot-9 big man has challenged the Hawks locker room on multiple occasions to play team basketball and commit to one another this season. Oftentimes, Collins has felt his voice go unheard.

“I’ve banged my head on the wall a couple of times trying to figure it out myself, there’s really no excuse,” Collins said Friday night after the Hawks’ 134-118 loss to the Lakers in Los Angeles. “All I can say is it’s unacceptable and we have to dig down and do the things necessary to win or this is going to be the result every night.”

Collins, 24, is eligible to be traded on Jan. 15.

76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey has set a high price threshold on Simmons, and has stated repeatedly that he wants Simmons to return to the team. Rival executives do believe Morey will stick to his approach of desiring a star in any Simmons trade, but what if that offer fails to arrive this season? Would the 76ers hold onto Simmons until the summer? There is also belief that teams are awaiting Morey to lower his asking price before a deal comes to fruition. Teams across the league continue to monitor the situation as it evolves.

and they already have an albatross contract in Harris at PF, no one will want that contract and they can't add Collins unless they move Harris, makes little sense, more hot air

I see that Philly wants to include Harris now in a trade with Simmons. CJ, Nurk (can go to a third team for different asset to Philly), Roco, Little and draft picks? Or substitute Nance for Nurkic?

this info was from windhorst and spears on their pod. it seemed like a throwaway comment tbh.

but holy hell that contract is brutal.

Does a Dame/Simons/Simmons/Tobias/Nurk lineup look better for us than what we have now?

Which is why they probably would want to include him. But, yes, it would sure require a leap of faith by Jody Allen.

My trade actually included Little, not Powell (wouldn't Philly be more interested in Little?) which would put us in even worse financial trouble, but hey!

    i don't think i would.

Even a Powell for Harris swap would be crazy.

    Powell: 18.6 pts, 2.9 rebs, 2.1 asts, 1 stl, 46% FG, 40% 3pt in 33 mpg. 16.2 PER
    Harris: 18.6 pts, 7.7 rebs, 3.9 asts, 0.5 stl, 46% FG, 30% 3pt in 35 mpg. 17.6 PER

    Win shares are identical.

Powell: 4 yrs, 75 mil left
Harris: 3 yrs, 113 mil left

you want to give them MORE value? I want no part of that Harris contract. He's not even close to being worth it.

Be a tough pill to swallow but it sure would shore up a forward position and if it was part of getting Simmons?
We wouldnt have CJ or Powells contract and would have to sign RoCo?

roco would have to be included in the trade.

we would have to re-sign Nurk and Ant. our books would be insane for next year alone.

    Dame-- 43 mil
    Harris -- 38 mil
    Simmons -- 35 mil
Simons -- 18 mil (generous tbh)
    Nurk -- 18 mil

You have a 150 mil starting lineup with ~120 mil salary CAP.

not sustainable with hardly room for improvement. This would maybe be tenable if Harris was a bonafide star. He's not close.

Morey can go fuck himself if he expects to trade both of those guys as a package. That's over 67M in salary and 72M/year in future salary. And that's for 2 players who didn't make Philly a contender

pretty obvious he's getting desperate. Simmons (and his agent) has found a way to collect his salary and not play. morey wasn't getting all-stars offered for Simmons so he's pivoting to try a major reset and using Simmons to dump an albatross contract. I can't believe any team would trade for those two contracts

for damn sure the Blazers shouldn't

    even players are mocking him

The idea that Windhorst floated was that they're trying to clear capspace to be able to add Harden in FA. Ya.... good luck with that one.

    I'd rather keep Norm than Nurk if possible. Norm is on a great contract for 4 more seasons. I like that idea CJ Roco Nurk Nance for Simmons + Harris. Gives a starting lineup of;

    Dame
    Powell - Simons
    Simmons
    Harris - Ant
    Zeller

    Small ball closing lineups

    Dame
    Simons
    Powell
    Harris
    Simmons

Payroll might be a mess next year if Simons gets a near max deal. Dame Harris Simmons Simons on huge deals along with Norm. But these are the types of trades the team has to make if they want to gamble on possibly contending with Dame soon. There is risk. If there is no risk there won't be enough reward.

Is it possible Morey's "demands" have become even more ludicrous?

it honestly just sounds like no reporter knows what's actually going on and are just speculating/regurgitating information. I certainly wouldnt listen to a thing Windhorst says.

I would be surprised if Simmons was traded though. What is Morey gonna find in the next couple weeks he couldn't in the last couple of months? May as well keep him until the summer when teams will be more open to gutting their rosters/making drastic changes.
