I think CJ is a much better fit than Fox. Fox isn't the most reliable three point shooter and he doesn't make good decisions in crunch time. He's probably actually a worse contract than CJ, it gets to a higher cap hit than CJ's, it is four more years instead of two and his numbers really aren't as good as CJ's anyway.

CJ fits what the Sixers need better. I realize CJ is six years older but CJ is still in his prime and due to Embiid's issues staying healthy, the Sixers need to get the best team together that they can now. I think that it's likely that the Sixers will go another way but at the same time we know that it was reported that they would do a deal for CJ and picks... Neil supposedly told them no but I think they could be negotiated down from 3 1sts and 3 swaps or whatever the fuck they were asking for.

maybe the problem now is that CJ has been mentioned so often, certainly more often than anybody else, as the "logical" swap, and mentioned by national media no less...that Morey simply won't do that deal because the next logical step is questioning why it took Morey so damn long to make a swap so many have been calling for

CJ for Simmons ain't happening....blazerkor will eat my hat if it does

Philly has multiple guards that basically produce like CJ. If he wanted CJ it would have been done by now, imo.
You are probably right about Morey not eating humble pie, he's an arrogant stat guy!

I'll throw in Roco or the pick gotten from Roco along with Mclemore and a second.

They have zero guards that produce like CJ, what are you talking about?

Thats your opinion man, mine is they have Maxey, Curry, Thybulle, Korkmaz & Shake. Collectively they do a lot more than CJ especially defensively. Maybe they dont dribble the ball as much or iso. Why would they want to add CJ thats what Im talking about.

none of those guys can get a bucket in crunch time of a playoff game when it will be impossible to feed embiid. their best solution in isos is to give embiid the ball 20' from the basket and hope he can create. that roster is desperate for someone like CJ and it's such an obvious fit. good luck putting the ball in maxey or curry's hands in the playoffs.

Philadelphia is in the bottom 10 of the league in scoring. They are middle of the pack in 3 point scoring. They dont have anyone that can consistently create their own shot. Even this season CJs offensive metrics grade out as twice as valuable as the 76ers best perimeter player (maxey)

I'm quite sure Morey isn't "Bluffing". I'd say he's gambling. All is love and kisses right now because of their recent win streak (which just ended). However, if they fall out of the playoffs - or worse lose a play-in series, there'll be heck to pay.

I just dont get his thought process. He's pretty much gambling a year of Embiid's prime that he will be able to find a top 25 player for Simmons. But I can't see Ben's value go UP with time. Who's gonna give up that type of player for a guy that hasn't played in over a year and already had questions about his work ethic/commitment? If you look at his numbers, its been a gradual decline since his rookie season. That suggests he's not a worker. Nothing that's happened since says otherwise either. He's got a good asset that he's treating like a great one. We'll see if he's bluffing, but I wouldnt be surprised if Simmons was still a sixer after the deadline. Morey is dumb oops I mean egotistical enough for this to drag.

Minny held onto an asset for what, 2 years? And then this happened:
    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ed-minnesota-timberwolves-cleveland-cavaliers

OR, what the clips gave up for PG. OR, what LAL gave up for the Brow.

I'm pretty sure that's what Morey is hoping for. I understand that you don't think Simmons is that caliber of player, neither does Morey. That's why he's pushing so hard with the made-up rumors.

Simmons will get traded on or near the draft. It'll be interesting to see what they get then.

yeah I think his mistake is valuing Simmons as the same caliber player as Love, PG, and AD are/were. Were talking about a guy that legit can't shoot a basketball and might not be able to play late in games.

some numbers on the mentioned players:

    CJ Mc: TS% .522....assisted FG rate .398....FT Rate .111....FGA/100-possessions 26.1....assist rate 21.6%....salary 29.4M

    Maxey: TS% .560....assisted FG rate .423....FT Rate .227....FGA/100-possessions 19.4....assist rate 20.2%....salary 2.6M

    Curry: TS% .635....assisted FG rate .591....FT Rate .166....FGA/100-possessions 17.0....assist rate 17.4%....salary 8.2M

now, this is a regular season comparison; playoffs can be quite different

You're hilarious but for the record we all know that's not how that deal works right? You'll be the one eating your own hat if CJ gets traded for Ben.

Morey is not going to get a top 25 player in return for Simmons. The longer Simmons sits, the less his value will be. Embiid is playing at the top of his game, and relatively as healthy as he's ever been. His knees are on borrowed time. The time is now to add pieces that will help the Sixers compete for a potential run. They don't have a closer the quality of a CJ. CJ might just turn into that top 25 talent in the Eastern Conference. Maxey has shown no chemistry with Embiid so far. Seth is a nice shooter off the bench. CJ is being under valued IMO by Morey. The Sixers need help now. Waiting, and sitting on Simmons over your ego makes no sense.

They'll likely get Roco or Nance out of it too which is better than any offers they're getting now.

Sounds like there's a deal getting close with Sacramento for Fox and change...

Actually, Curry played incredibly well in playoffs last year. Simmons was the problem.

I don’t see anything about a deal ‘getting close’ . I’m pretty sure Kings are considered a favorite because they’re one of the few teams that can take on both Harris and Ben. They don’t get the star they wanted, but Barnes is pretty much the same player as Harris and would free up $18m for them in summer 2022. I certainly would rather Morey hold firm on his price until the draft, but if they could get rid of Harris’ contract as well in the same deal with Ben right now to help Embiid I wouldn’t blame them.
