Should we Simonize?

?

What to do with Ant?

  1. Sign him for what might be around $20,000,000 to start next to Dame

  2. Trade him for a larger wing who would fit better next to Dame

  3. Sign him for around $15,000,000 to be a Super-Sub

  4. Trade Dame/CJ and build around the 22 year old and all the pieces coming back

I guess we will see how impactful their guards can be come playoffs. If CJ is that much better at closing games than Curry, Maxie, Thy, Kork & Shake why hasnt Philly jumped on CJ and why the hell are we trading him? I believe they dont want him for the same reason's most on here dont want him.

Because we have a glut of undersized guards and we want to get bigger, more defensive minded while balancing out the rest of the team. It's totally possible CJ could be an all-star in the east.

If the Blazers are operating under the mindset that they HAVE to trade CJ, I think we are all going to be underwhelmed by the return. It's going to be another Zach Randolph situation. Powell can be moved easily, but if the Blazers want to compete next season the suitors for Powell may not return commensurate court value. Some mid or late firsts is not going to be super helpful.

I get it. I think the league thinks he’s over valued.
We will see what Joe can do if he even wants to trade him.

Simons recent play makes the decision to move on from Me J and Powell very easy

I think we should keep Powell.
Dame, Powell, and Simons is a solid 3 guard rotation. If they can improve that rotation, then fine go for it. But like you say if they want to compete next year then move him to SG and go with those 3 for 32 minutes a game. Not saying we can't do better but I just think a high-scoring PF is the bigger need.

Nurk is playing better and I think we all agree that Little can be the starting SF.

So that leaves CJ, Roco (or Nance) and a draft pick to get a power forward. And like you say we might be a little underwhelmed with the return but my hope
is we keep our draft pick and draft a big and trade for a vet. I have been opposed to getting stuck with Tobia Harris' contract but we could do worse.

could ww finagle cj our pick( assuming we miss the playoff), with roco and whatever else to move up to number two and try to get paulo poncharo?
He would fit the ant/nas timeline.

I’m assuming it will be just like last year in the playoffs when every time they needed to go 1 on 1 it ended up in:

    1) A worn out Joel Embiid
    2) Joel Embiid somehow going 1 on 1 from the 3pt line.

Because Simmons, in a vacuum, is a better asset than CJ and we don’t have much more to offer, I’d guess. Morey probably has unrealistic expectations for what he can get in return.

And we need to trade CJ because we have a lot of comparable guards that all do the same thing with essentially the same weaknesses. We don’t want CJ because we have CJ already, but better, in Dame. That’s why people want him traded.

(And some of us don’t actually want him traded, but he makes too much to be a 6th man.)

So, any way you slice it, there is NO WAY the 76ers don’t want him for the same reason we don’t want him.

CJ has a totally different skillset than their guards.
All our tiny guards do the exact same thing with the exact same weaknesses. They have a bunch of guards that do different things, but none that can do everything offensively that they need.

RoCo, CJ, Powell should be traded for “Big” pieces. Draft Ivey with the 4/5 pick(hopefully) and roll with a Dame/Ant/Ivey guard rotation.

If CJ is a contenders offensive answer than I guess we will see him traded to a contender for a decent return?
I dont think CJ is anymore lethal than Curry to be honest and he plays better D. Plus I dont see him getting as many shots in Philly with the front court scoring they have and at the guard position.
We'll see before long. Neil thought the same thing he's a contenders difference maker.

Giannis JUST turned 27. That's a massive difference from a 31 year old Dame. So you're saying we should run it back with the pint-sized twins? Just this time replacing CJ with Ant? That has worked SO WELL for us over the last six years or so. I'm not saying that Ant or Nas are superstars, but we could potentially trade Dame for someone at another non-guard position that could grow into a 1A to Simons 1B.

Simons and Nas are nice pieces to start a rebuild. You move Dame/CJ/Powell/Nurk/RoCo for other picks and young talent on the same timeline.

not what I'm saying. What I am saying is don't trade Dame, and that Simons is not anywhere close to reason enough to think otherwise

If Joe isn't able to get something done before deadline?
We have assets that should be tradable, right?

He'd be cheaper than cj and dame. I think it's time to move on.
