was curious to see how we have performed with certain players on and off the court. I only included the players that average at least 15mpg

    Offensive Rating
    Best
    1. Simons
    2. Lillard
    3. Nance

    Worst
    1. DSJ
    2. McLemore
    3. RoCo

    Defensive Rating
    Best
    1. Nurkic
    2. McLemore
    3. RoCo

    Worst
    1. Powell
    2. Lillard
    3. Little

    Offensive/Defensive Rating difference
    Best
    1. Simons: +9.6
    2. Nurkic: +7.6
    3. Lillard: +4.8

    Worst
    1. DSJ: -11.3
    2. McLemore: -4.8
    3. Powell: -4.5

    -------------

Some other tidbits: Our best rebounding units are when Nurk and Nassir are on the court. Not a surprise The worst are when Roco and Powell are on.

My conclusions? Obviously on and off splits are influenced by who players share the court with, but I think we can safely conclude that a starting lineup with three guards is flawed, at least with this trio. Also, Simons is really good.

Actually, in the case of Simons - it also matters who replaces him when he goes out. Given the extended time off for both CJ and Lillard - when Simons goes out - we play minimum players (4th and 5th stringers) - so obviously his on/off look good. Simons is good, very good, but take these with a grain of salt given the state of the roster this year.

It's weird that Powell is so bad. I wonder how much of that is him playing small forward.

DSJ, to me, is mostly because he usually only plays in garbage time.

that argument goes both ways, he's also sharing a lineup with lesser players than Dame and CJ were. The two lineups he's played in the most this season include Snell and McLemore.

Does not really matter if we are talking about off/on - if you are playing next to 3rd string NBA players but the off portion is filled with G-League players - there is going to be a big difference. We have seen over and over that even 3rd string NBA players are usually much much better than most players - including the vast majority of G League players.

So, even tho Dame was not his superstar self this year, when Dame went out - he was replaced by Simons often (playing a reduced role), but when Ant is going out when playing a staring role - his replacement is a much bigger drop-off than what you usually see in the NBA between first and 2nd units. I am not saying Simons has not been great, he has been - but when looking at on/off stats - you have to consider more than just who he plays with.
