We'll see in the playoffs. I don't think they go .900 without Ja when it matters. Ja is very very good.

His point does still stand in terms of Dame having to carry this team, and although a small sample size, Grizzlies so far have fared well when Ja was out.

But Ja is unbelievable, though he was not very consistent tonight lol.

Zach Collins 15/5/3 and a block to help POP to become the winning coach.

10-11 games without Ja doesn't tell the whole tale. They weren't going to be a playoff team without Ja just because they had a nice stretch without him. Ja has absolutely carried them in the games he has played. We've gone stretches in past seasons where we've won games without Dame. Didn't mean Dame wasn't carrying us when he played. But I agree with you. Let's not compare. Let's just enjoy how good both players are.

Lakers would be a pretty good team if Westbrook got hurt.

No. YOU are rooting for the Lakers. I'm rooting for the Spurs and Kings.

He does have a point. If we value our picks, we should want LA to hold the 9 seed. Unless I'm missing something.

It was a close game and then Vogel benched Melo and Westbrook and the Lakers breezed to the win.

They’re like 12-1? 13-1? something like that without Ja Morant.

But anyway, the point is. They should be good in the playoffs. They’re a very, very good team as evidenced by their record without Ja. Teams can’t just key in on him like they do Dame … because it’s been proven that even without Ja, they’re still an elite team.

And yes, Ja is very good.

I’d love to see a stretch of 14 games where the Blazers played without Dame and won 85%+ of those games.

And if you can’t, that’s proving my point. Dame HAS to carry us when he plays.

    Ja doesn’t HAVE to.

Not true. Our best game in last season's playoffs was Game 4 vs Denver. Dame shot 1/10 from the field and we blew them out. He did not "carry us" to that win. Come Game 5, he scored 55 but we lost. I personally believe Dame's teammates from last year are better than Ja's teammates from this year. Bane is good but not as good as CJ. Nurk is better than Steven Adams. Etc etc. And yes, Ja has to carry his team to wins. That non-Ja stretch was just a hot stretch. The Rockets won 7 straight without Ja. I guess that means they're a great team too? 2018-19 played very well without Kawhi during regular season but he carried them to title in playoffs. Ja is the number one reason by FAR that they have the second best record in the NBA. Without him for a full season, they would not be in playoffs. Not even the play-in.

What I want is for the Spurs and Kings to both earn a PIT spot, and the lakers and Pels to finish 11th and 12th in the conference respectively.

Yes, he has a point. So do I. Do either matter?

If the Lakers and Pelicans lose and the Spurs and Kings win, we get the best of all worlds. Not sure why we need to be having a pedantic discussion over what's marginally better.

I mean, right now, the Pelicans are chasing the Lakers. They aren't ahead of the Lakers. If the Pelicans keep losing, what the Lakers do is completely meaningless to the Blazers. Therefore, I pull for the Pelicans and Lakers to both lose.
