Not really. The Wolves are way ahead of the Clips and the Lakers are way below the Clips. Vegas would favor the Wolves to beat Clips. Then Vegas would pick Lakers to win 9/10 as they’d be at home with one of the best players ever. I can’t tell the future any better than that you and I hope Lakers lose 9/10 game if the make it, but the most likely outcome right now is Lakers/Clippers battling for 8 spot, loser goes home.
Over the last 15 years there have been 2 #1 picks that have won cships. Both with Lebron.....Kyrie & Davis
We aren't tanking to have the worst record in the league or even necessarily the number one pick. We are tanking and will hopefully stay dedicated to it so we can attain the pick with the highest value as an asset because it gives us the best chance to choose between the largest amount of prospects at the top of our draft board or it just gives us the most valuable trade chip we can use to attain immediate help.
Sure, I get that. Just thought it was interesting about #1 picks and if they pop or not for a championship last 15. They still could too.
This reminds me of a couple of teams I coached where either kids weren't performing during the game or practice, I'd throw out the couple of kids that were just so they didn't have to endure playing with the guys that couldn't.
OKC doing just a masterful tank job to be in position to get to top 3 where all odds are flat for the first four picks. Last year, OKC was at #4 to start out but dropped 2 spots to the 6th pick where they landed Giddey. Don't think they want that again. SAC just shut Sabonis down for 2 weeks. They went into the lottery last year at #9, and ended up with the 9th pick. Detroit went into the lottery with the #1 slot and ended up with the #1 pick last year. But they clearly don't want OKC to catch them again this year. We need to get to at least 5. These other teams are ramping up their tanks to ridiculous levels. Dropping 3 straight to the Spurs would be a start. Our current rotation is undoubtedly the worst in the NBA -- Detroit had no excuse losing last night.
i mean... we sat out Hart for no reason too. Last night was more of an indictment on how terrible the Pistons are.
We still play the spurs twice at their place, I doubt we win either one of those. Too bad we still play the rockets and thunder twice each. Might have to sit Watford and Williams soon hehe.
it has become obvious for us Blazer fans this year that there are two primary legs of a successful tank: roster decimation and timing. Portland has done a good job of decimation. Their problem was starting the tank too late. They had 2 stretches: one was that stretch after the trade deadline when they won 6 of 8. The other was that 4 game win streak. That's a dozen games when they won 10 of 12. If they have started their tank after the trade deadline and just have gone 6-6 over those 12 games, they'd be in 5th right now. 4-8 and they'd be in 4th obviously, tanking takes commitment and the Blazers did not commit early enough
I still think we end up getting under the Kings in the standings. I think with their schedule it's going to take getting really lucky to get under the Pacers but obviously by the time we did commit to the tank our goal was just to put ourselves in position to get the highest pick possible and probably wasn't realistically getting down to the bottom three records. So the sixth slot in the lotto isn't a bad result.
