    if the lottery pick is the goal, does it really matter much how it's secured?

    If you're defending the outcome of tanking, then yes, it does matter.

    Ha! Well played sir. And for you and the dogs information, I just turned down the Clips and Nets offer to work, because it conflicted with my college road trip my daughter and I are taking this week. Priorities FAMS….. priorities.

    So, you're tanking now, too?

    no, it doesn't matter at all....you're talking a distinction without a difference. The value of a pick doesn't change if it's bought with a good trade, or a bad record

    * option 1: Portland has 27 wins and a 37.2% chance of a top-4 pick.
    * option 2: Blazers have 33 wins and have a 19.4% chance of a top-4 pick
    * option 3: Blazers have 44 wins and get eliminated in the play-in and have the 14th pick with a 3% chance of a top-4 pick

    compared to option 1, are the 6 extra wins of option 2 valuable enough to sacrifice the lottery value? Are even the 17 extra wins of option 3 more valuable than their current situation? And that's a nearly impossible option anyway because Portland was 25-34 when Nurkic sat. They weren't going to go 21-2 the rest of the way....

    ...and the reality of the trade deadline and Blazer record 59 games in points to the most important aspect of this season: it was already burnt toast when the Blazers went into full tank mode. The tank was NOT any radical turn away from what the season was. Instead it was simply a realistic appraisal and response to the situation

    You are a slippery fella, that's for sure. You changed the value of tanking to the value of a pick. If only everyone had terrible reading comprehension, you'd be great at this deflection thing.

    I haven't heard anybody advocate for Portland tanking for a stretch of seasons. But plenty saw where this season was inevitably headed and decided that tanking this particular season made great sense and was by far the best outcome. The "value of tanking" an already lost season, this season, is pretty damn obvious

    speaking of reading comprehension:

    The HCP said: "getting lottery picks aren’t the cure. Maybe staying a 45-50 win team and making the playoffs every year isn’t THAT bad". I simply pointed out that the reason that Portland made the playoffs for 8 straight years was Dame, and the reason Portland had Dame was because they had a lottery pick. I'd say it's a lack of comprehension, reading and otherwise, to conclude that discussing the 'value of lottery picks' is not germane to discussing the 'value of tanking'. And vice-versa.

    Did anyone read this about the disrespect frank Vogel was getting from Russ?

    “Russ [Westbrook] never respected Frank [Vogel] from Day 1,” said one Lakers staff member with knowledge of the situation. “The moment Frank said anybody who gets the rebound can bring it up the court, which is just how the NBA is played these days, Russ was like, ‘Naw, I’m the point guard. Give the ball to me. Everybody run. Frank was like, ‘No, we have Talen [Horton-Tucker] We have Austin [Reaves]. We have Malik. We have LeBron. We have AD. They can all bring the ball up.’ He was like, ‘Nope, I’m the point guard. Give me that s—. Everybody get out the way.’

    “From that point on, in training camp, it was a wrap, ‘cause now Russ is a fish out of water. He doesn’t know what to do. That’s how that started.”

    I have never been ... correction -- i was a Westbrick fan when he came out and there were whispers the Blazers coveted him but the more i saw him the less and less i liked him. Now the loser blames Vogel for the fact he sucked and plays the victim card -- what a friggin loser Westbrick has turned into and so glad the Blazers never got him.

    I hope NO team out there bails the Lakers out of Westbrick even if they cave and offer that 27' ( ? ) 1st they still have to get rid of him cause he is not worth it. I am not sure if you threw Baby james with him he would be worth it he is such a loser and I have said it before -- NO team with him as a focus will EVER win a ring point blank.

    BTW - -I said the same thing about Melo like 5 to 6 years ago and while I have gone from hate Melo to a solid like I still feel like i was 100% correct on that too

    So a number of people have said something about meeting Russ at a subway. Does he do Subway commercials or does he eat there a lot?

    I don't think Stotts would take the Sac job. Now Utah? Yep he'd take that one for sure.

    yes utah is a job you take. but the Kings are just a mess, though you would be a legend if you got them to the postseason. Sabonis just got screwed with that trade. What's worse than the Kings? Maybe Orlando?? I dont know when his deal is up but I bet he cant wait to leave.
