Until this year. And now we're being run by the Keystone Cops. What a total pile of shit.

This is about as on topic as it gets. I don't know if we're a total pile of shit. I definitely don't want the people that are running our team to continue to. I don't think we have a great chance of getting rid of Jodi and the Vulcans immediately but the fact that the team still hasn't announced that Cronin is the permanent GM gives me some hope that we might have different people running it day today and the Vulcans just get lucky with who they pick to do it.

At this point Lanny has been around long enough that he should have enough to buy the team, right?

This team has been run by idiots for much longer than this year. THAT is why this year happened in the first place

The clusterfuck that Olshey put into place is why they're in the place they're in, not Cronin. They had to trade CJ, and honestly, he wasn't worth much more than what they got (without taking back a shitty contract to match).

Losing the pick sucks, but everything had to fall into place for the Pelicans for the pick to not convey. Can't blame that on Cronin.

    Just a period of rejuvenation!
The fact that this forum exist and there are so many blazer-maniacs indicates its been good ride for many of the years.
Virtually half the league are laggards big time, and half are in the playoffs and maybe on any given year 4/5 serious contenders.

I'm going to say this again. You most definitely can blame that on Cronin and it's the only logical thing to do. He is the one that took the risk that didn't pay off and he is the one that didn't put stipulations in place that would have mitigated that risk (there are a lot of first rounders the Pelicans could have the rights to between now and the Bucks 2025). So of course Cronin gets held accountable for not getting a better return on not only CJ but also Larry in that deal. He also gets blamed for getting robbed by the Clippers.

If you think that Cronin has done a great job since taking over then we completely disagree. I think he's done a shitty job but if you think he's done an average or below average job since being made interim GM that can't possibly earn him the actual GM job and with what's at stake we have to have an actual GM in place as soon as possible. Whoever the new GM is should be announced immediately.

    A) the post never said Cronin did a great job. In fact, he never graded Cronin at all.

    B) There wasn't much more we could have gotten for CJ without a bigger contract coming back. The pick leaving sucks, I was pissed too. Should there have been contingencies, sure. But to think we could have gotten more or not, CJ wasn't worth much more.

    C) Olshey fucked us. He made it so CJ was either with us forever because we couldn't trade him or we were gonna get screwed on the trade market.

The one I will give is that LAC trade. That one can't be defended.

I'm not a defender of Cronin, but there are things that hover in the grey area that needed to be addressed.

Do I want the interim tag off of Cronin? Only if an exhaustive search was done and all rocks turned over first. I'd only be upset if that doesn't happen. Otherwise, we get what we got.

They needed out of contracts, and not taking back any. They needed to clear out of the crap they had before. I don't care what he got for Norman Powell and Robert Covington. Covington wasn't worth shit, and Powell had no real role here, and doesn't really make the team better. There's a reason why they got what they got for the players they traded. Both in the sense they only wanted ot take back certain things (no big contracts) but also that their contracts were bad and the players going out weren't as good as we think they were.

They waaay overpaid for Covington, far more than they got "robbed" by the Clippers. Powell had no role going forward here, and players like him are not uncommon to find. CJ is massively overpaid, and still has almost 70 million owed to him.

He (Cronin) did what he was instructed to do. Get rid of bloated contracts, not take back any bloated contracts, create cap space flexibility, and smaller contracts easier to trade (Winslow, Hughes, Johnson and even Hart are all easier to trade).

The Clippers didn't have a pick this year, and can't trade next years either, as there was restrictions on their picks until 2025 anyways.

Covington and Powell weren't getting the team massive offers that included a high pick, that wouldn't have included a salary dump by the other team.

Never a better opportunity to win a championship then over the next two years!

Super Teams are a mess, that approach won’t consistently win. Basketball is a team game - our 1977 Champions were the epitome of teamwork and few stars.

With a healthy Dame and crew (as scripted) I’ll bet we could have made it to the second round THIS playoffs - who’s truly good? Denver? Utah? Even PHX showed how fragile the teams are right now.

I say we re-sign Nurk and Ant and bring in Grant if he doesn’t cost us much more than 2025 Buck’s 1st and perhaps Bledsoe. Bring back a guy like Eubanks and maybe Williams; they were hustlers!

I was in attendance for every home Blazer game during the ‘77 Championship playoff run. We overcame big mountains and Lady Luck reared her head a few times, but with desire, and coaching and a group of guys that really played team ball, we did the impossible.

I feel it’s gonna happen next year!

    Go Blazers
