I'd definitely do that if our pick lands at 6-8 and the Hornets will give us 13 and 15 for it. I would do the Simmons trade you are proposing and I would trade the 15th for Grant. I think the Nets would have to think about getting Hart, the 13th pick and cap relief after next season for Simmons... especially if they like the guy at 13. Dame, Ant, Grant, Simmons and Nurk would be a really interesting starting lineup and could be a contender. Nas, Justise, the 36th pick and someone we pick up with the TPMLE could be a pretty nice bench for a nine man rotation and Keon, Greg, Trendon, Didi, the 57th pick and a vet min guy could fight it out for another spot in a larger rotation or spot minutes.
Possible but not plausible which connotes it being likely that one arguing that he'll never be the same is right. BroLo just had the surgery and looks the same if not better than he did before and he's way older than Simmons. Rudy Fernandez looked the same after he had this procedure done. He was never that good but he was just as agile and bouncy afterward as he was before. The prognosis is that Simmons will be ready for training camp. I think his mental health is a bigger concern than his back and I'm not too concerned that his mental health will cost him many more games either.
You must be one of the few still singing the Simmons song, when are you and others going to admit Simmons is not someone to have on your team. He just stayed out a whole season, then said back injury and mental health as reasons he didn't play. Then was going to play in the playoffs but then last min pulled out and said his mental health was triggering his back injury again...like what? This is already someone that is scared of big moments, hasn't improved his weakness since getting to the NBA...etc etc. Simmons is someone you want to KEEP off your team at all costs! Also, giving up Hart, who is someone you need on your team as a high energy guy, gives it his 100% all the time, AND a 13th pick that we don't know will turn into to, as nothing? Simmons is also having back surgery, we don't know how that may impact his game going forward. Really and truly, I don't know anyone that still wants Simmons on their team in any fan base...but we still got a few "sharps" in here still talking about getting Simmons, smh
Keon Clark? He's a bit old, but it would give him a chance to get his life back on track after those years in prison...
Will still be a 26 year old all nba player when next season starts. Still one of the highest BBIQ guys in the league on both ends of the floor. Still gigantic and if the other half dozen guys that had this procedure done are any indication will still be an athletic beast in a month or two. This isn't the kind of major surgery that Michael Porter Jr. is undergoing for the third time. It's something that has been very successful and when Rudy had it the team refused to call it a surgery and said it was a minor procedure... which was bullshit but tells you that it's not all that serious. So yeah, I'm still saying that Ben Simmons will not only play well again but will make multiple all star teams going forward, probably make an all nba team again, will likely be DPOY at some point and if a team ever gets him to just try to shoot the ball, he'll have a great chance at being an MVP. Yep, I think it's worth risking Hart and the 13th pick for him.
Not to belabour the obvious, but why did Simmons wait till after the season to have surgery? His supposed goal was to get traded...so wouldn't it make sense to have the operation so he could be ready to play for the new team?
The back issue seemed to flare up more at the end of the season, and it seemed he and the team were hoping he'd be able to make it back to play for them. Even if he had the surgery the day he was traded, he'd basically be out for the season.
